1. This deck has recently been an addition to my collection and yet a one to explore. 2. I love this deck by Marco - It has true elegance, it speaks Dynasty to me - Rich and empowering. Totally agreed with your comments 3 . The Sacred India - Not heard of this one but not surprised it features given your passion for Yoga 4. Darkness of Light - Loved the calm, peace and yes, being in nature bare footed in just blissful and rewarding. 5. Stella Tarot - Very fairy tale like. In fact, it reminded me of the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz. I don't personally see the meaning of this card as CHILD BEARING - this is a 20th Century occultist twist. However, saying that - I do see it as nurturing . . . BUT not only in the sense of development of a child. I always think of a Great Emperor being influenced by the passionate Empress and listening to her words of wisdom extremely carefully. Nuturing "care for and protect (someone or something) while they are growing" can be related to ALL THINGS and not just the development of raising the heir to the kingdom. Let's face it - without the Empress, what is an Emperor? The Empress rules the Emporers heart too 😉 Great presentation as always! 👻💋

I loved watching this and am so glad you raised the issue of the Empress from the medieval era where she was not seen as some kind of 'childbearing only' role. loved your choices for the Empress but my fave was defo the one from the Marco Benedetti deck!! Wow what a wonderful powerful empress she is! I definitely agree that the power of the Empress gets lost when she is depicted as just a mother, I too do not like when she is depicted that way, I like my Empress' powerful yet protective. Loved to hear that you are a yoga teacher, it's nice to get to know these little things about you as a person outside of Tarot. 😀

Every time I see those huge Visconti decks, I just want to play with a deck in this large size! 💜 I fully know that this size would be impractical for me in many readings but I just love how visible the details are. I appreciate you pointing out the pregnant Empress is actually not that "old" in the history of tarot -- it is a good reminder that not everything we call 'traditional' is! The Benedetti deck looks absolutely extraordinary, very special. I had a suspicion which favourite we would have in common, and I was right!!

Yeah, those Visconti cards are massive and are printed with the original dimensions. I was fortunate to view the 15th century originals in Italy last year, so looking at and playing with my US Games version of Visconti Sforza in its original size bring back those special memories from my trip and makes me even more excited about the history of those cards.🥰 Absolutely, references to pregnancy in Empresses only came with the immersion of occult, and while the ‘mother’ aspect is very important, it’s limiting too, given other roles the Empress plays, and given the diversity of people we read for.. Oh yes, Marco Benedetti’s tarot is so clever & that Empress is one of my most fave cards from Marco. 💙 Thank you for being here, Laura!🙏🏼💛

I hadn't thought of the Darkness of Light, but she is lovely. You know I support considering the Empress (and women) as being much more than the ability to bear children. If the High Priestess is knowledge represented by a woman then the Empress represents a sense of power and nurture to me. Oh, and I want the Stella Tarot!!

Love the cards specially the historic one's 😊. I agree about empress is so much more than a mother. But to me personally there is another powerful women i the deck and to have the archetype of a mother shouldn't hurt anyone since all of is came from a mother. I connect the card to creation and nature force, and of course being a woman , she is powerful. 😅😅😅
