Hey there! I use it Sometimes as a approach shot, it gives variety to my game and produce some nice shots. Liked the video!

Great little reminder and summary Brady! I have un-necessarily lost points trying to do a forehand slice (even with an easy ball) that forehand slice had no business with, and wondered why that is. It just isn't going to produce a winner, and it is hard to be consistent with a specialty shot like that!

So I suppose the takeaway from the video is that you shouldn't use slice forehand: first two don't really count cause of course you'll use a "slice" if you can't hit anything else, and the third is a specialty shot and not a normal slice. One potential use of the actual slice that I __do__ have in mind though, is the occasional DTL slice forehand approach to the opponent's backhand. What do you think about it?

I think a lot of players think they have to hit slice off a big first serve, when that's just not the case. With practice it's still manageable to come over the ball. I'd sign off on the occasional down the line slice forehand approach, especially on faster courts.

A couple of more useful circumstances I use the slice FH: 1. Slice back some really low bouncing slices from the opponent. 2. Change pace in the rally, when the opponent has shown some weakness adapting to changes. 3. When I want to securely place an approach shot with accuracy.

Change pace is a good one that I didn't mention. The others I addressed in other videos this week. Thanks for the inputs Dionisios!

Should we do the same if the serve is slow?
@DailyTennisLesson Жыл бұрын
I would avoid hitting slice on any slow serve. Grip and rip it.

When I get an aggressive slice to my forehand I prefer to slice it back. I also like slice approach shots down the line with side spin

Try and hit with a lot of racket speed and topspin off your opponent's slice, I think you'll like the feeling and results. The occasional slice approach down the line is just fine, but I still prefer topspin in most situations.

How about when your forehand topspin is less reliable and you want to chip n charge ? Stays low and they have to hit up and put s lot of topspin on their return ball
@DailyTennisLesson4 жыл бұрын
It can be a placeholder until your topspin ball improves. But in general, players are turning their aggressive forehand into approach shots nowadays--and I think the trend will continue. Good stuff Rohit!

Most underutilized shot at the club level. Great for chip and charge for short balls. Weak 2nd serves. And low balls that are difficult to set up for for a topspin forehand. Being able to slice And topspin on both sides adds significant dimension to ones game.

Agreed, it's definitely good to have in a number of circumstances. Just don't overuse it--thanks Robert!

Slice and follow it to the net would be #4

'Chip & charge' is a great play, one that I've done entire videos on in the past. Thanks Thomas!

@@DailyTennisLesson Your videos are outstanding. I dig the 5 minute ones the best. I'm back playing after a 37 absence. Your insight has been invaluable. How about some doubles videos?
