Nice drop volleys! I was impressed with how much safety you created with a still fairly high arc (peaking on your side) and a good landing into the opposite service box. Masterful.

Hey, you're giving away some of our favorite shots! We often play a drop shot game. Great fun to see our progress. Sometimes I'll drop shot a serve if I see the returner behind the baseline. If I can finesse it to bounce within 15' of the net, it provokes a weak return. And some laughing and cussing! Cheers!

Thanks Ryan, could you please talk about the contact point. S How far should it be in front of you and the height at which you need to contact for a good drop shot

hey could you give me the slinger setting used in this video, thanks

Sorry this video was made over two years ago and I don’t use the slinger bag anymore so I have no idea what the settings were. I’m sure it was low speed.

Amazing Video! Do you think you could make one on aiming the ball? Maybe at the baseline corners and/or the service line.

Can you make a video on how to play long two handed backhand shot which comes on the base line leaving players less time to react

Nice! I liked the mention of a "tiny bit of backspin" toward the end of the video. Too much bounce and you're giving your opponent extra time to get to the ball.

The more the arm stays still, the better the dropshot. The more you move your arm the less your balance and therefore the sensitivity and accuracy. Ball control occurs with the advancement of the body and with the underspin generated by the wrist. The secret is to stay balanced

Drop shot is my worst shot by far. Nice to see some advice, I can't get enough of that. And thankfully I always play on clay, as it is the only surface to be found in Germany. Slows down the opponent AND the ball. But still my drop shots suck.

Where should you be aiming for the drop?
@paddlepower8883 жыл бұрын
Maybe directly across the net so it has less time in the air and your opponent has less time to Sprint forward?

Tip #4 if I may...follow your drop shot in to the net.
@2MinuteTennis3 жыл бұрын
Yep you’re 100% right.

I would add another tip. Don't try to make dropshot as a winner. It can be only shot before last one. You will have less errors with that. Winner is only extra benefit.

Hi Ryan, thanks for making the videos. Tips you mention are good ones, but In my opinion your shot execution and technique are completely off. Ball is going to high, with very low back-spin. You need to change the grip and go more under the ball, without so high contact point.
@truthvfauxyeshu40683 жыл бұрын
Yes. It needed a spin for the drop shot; it was also a lot higher than a regular winning drop shot.

Backspin is absolutely necessary sir, use same grip as slice backhand, not volley grip. Sorry
@2MinuteTennis3 жыл бұрын
I mentioned to put backspin on the ball. But Most rec players I see trying a Dropshot try to put WAAYYYYY too much backspin on the ball. Ans don’t say sorry. Happy to have the conversation.

I'd have to disagree with the shots in the video. It might work against beginner opponents, but any advanced recreational player would be able to run the ball down. Your balls are bouncing too high and too close to the service line IMHO.
