As a young black 18 year old man, this has helped me a lot. I’ve been doing IT my whole life, but had fell off track within my life. Job corps has helped bring me back on track, and is preparing me for the military.

I went to Schenck in 98-99. Graduated advanced completer In welding.I was on the fireteam and I worked as a dorm monitor at night. I came back home with a little over 7 grand and had a job.24 years later and the only regret I have is that I should have stayed the entire 2 years.Get this free education!! I have raised 2 children off of that welding certification.

He's right i was at jobcorps for a year they dont mess around they are there to help i went there to be a plumber came out as the first student in a long time to graduate with a job best part is that opened up a path for the other plumbers to follow my footsteps 1 plumber ( Dustin ) went to advanced training the other ( Jordan ) graduated with a job and is currently living on the campus until he gets a place to stay try to get as many certificates as you can and stay out of trouble

Great advice I went there and benefited from it learn a trade u can use when you get out best trades to bring money fast auto mechanics keep a dollar in your pocket and be your own boss cook always in demand no slow period number 1 electrician the times we living in now fixing computers installing stereos burglar alarms etc driving also in demand everything else pay good but slow in between construction plumbing carpentry carpentry brick mason u want trade constant busy bills come every month remember the more u learn the more u can earn

Please stay away from drugs please im 20 and lost 2 years already due to fentanyl it fucks up your brain chemistry and most likely u will never be the same mentally ive been sober 6 months and still dealing with craving and feeling shitt not one day gors by where i think of the days i was homeless and wished i went to a program like this right afrr high school to keep ur busy and motivated to be successful you must sacrifice and work hard

We had a dude sell one of those big freezer ziplocs full of salt and baking soda. It was his DOT and he tried to hit a link off some of the heads. Ended up with him being arrested after he got jumped in his dorm while he was packing. It was wild.

@nrey4255 Honestly I Would Try To Persuade Him To Go To Either College Or A Local Trade School, Because Job Corps Is Not What They Portray It To Be, It's Basically A Coed Prison, Cause In Prison You Can Get A Diploma & A Trade, Just Like Job Corps, It's Violent & Dangerous Cause They Accept Anybody & A Lot Of People Are There On Court Order.

The program is a sham. They shouldn't be putting people in there who went there on their own with people who went there instead of serving a sentence.. I went to Jacobs Creek and graduated in 95 and would not recommend it. Stupid gang shit, people were getting hit in the heads with locks while they slept.

As someone who is committed and is in the process of getting into JobCorps, the interview that I had talked about some very strict rules that you must follow. They specifically asked me to agree that I was not a part of any gangs and that I did not use illegal substances or drink alcohol. Although I can not assure your personal safety, it seems that JobCorps is doing everything they can to ensure safety on campus.
