I’m doing a wild custom build. Putting a wooden bed in a modern truck. I hope it doesn’t look too ugly but I think it will give it some character

How do you keep sitting on the tailgate to get into the bed if the bed isn't bolted down yet?

The tailgate hinge is bolted to the bottom corners of the rear quarter panels. It is then held up with chains that attach at the top rear corners of the rear quarter panels. It is not attached to the wood bed at all.

How do you prep the under side of the wood to accept the top of the carriage bolts sticking up over the bed sills? Thanks man.

There is about a half inch space between the boards when the metal rails are laid where the bolts go through. No prep is needed.
