If you're starting in graffiti then you'll need a tag name. in today's video we're going to help you learn how to pick a graffiti tag name, but we're also going to take things one step further. We're going to help give you some tag name ideas that you can use as well. Throughout the video we'll go over a few tips you'll want to keep in mind when making a name and by the end of it, you should be able to come up with a name you're happy with.

The name I write is “Soda.” The reason I even started doing graffiti was from a video game I played as a kid, and Soda is the name of my favorite character from that game 😂 The first name I chose when I was younger was Tre” which is a shortened version of my actual name. It wasn’t until I started taking graffiti more seriously that I changed to Soda, which these are the 4 letters I enjoy drawing and painting the most (especially the letter ‘S’), and which I feel I can have the most fun with. That’s how I chose mine

I write Yukz only because I find the letter combo cool, wrote "Yukaza" before but homies tend to call me Yakuza like the Japanese Mafia instead so I shortened it to Yukz. Also dabbling on my second name Esare, basically just erase backwards, I actually don't know why I started writing that, I was just practicing other letter combos and it seemed kinda dope and it just kinda sticked. Dunno if other people write the same names I do but I kinda care zero shits, the world is so huge you can't know every people.

I’ve also felt uncomfortable when my friends were mocking my name «Ugly» it sounds like coal if pronounced wrong in my language. But the thing is that those friends didnt had much of a dedication to graffiti. So they stopped writing and i continued to write my name. It also sounds funny originally so i dont expect to get through my «career» without jokes and mocking, i put my meaning into that word so other peoples talks not bothering me. Dont feel bad about it, dont even pay attention. Pay attention when experienced writers might point out your mistakes, but not silly jokes about how your name sound😉

I write Subi, stuck with it for around 7 months now, old name I wrote was Logik, only stuck with it for about a month, still relatively new to the Graffiti world though. I just wrote the alphabet over and over again in different designs, that's how I came up with Subi.

i grew up with my uncle doing graffiti/hiphop with his mates and i always found graffiti interesting. he goes by the name CLEKT which i thought was so dope and original. as years went on i kinda took that name as inspiration and came up with KREKT and did that for a bit. it felt like i bit his name and originality so i stopped and then i tried making my own name using parts of my real name and came up with DREM which uses my middle name being DRE and my last name that starts with M and just put the two together and it sounded nice so i just started going with that

A bit of a lame story, but the name i use is Blacat, the first paint can i bought was black, and my pet is a cat… so yeah. I previously did not like the T, but mixed with the A, the middle line transforms into the upper line of the T and it looks satisfying when done right imo

The name i write is "emxo" I wrote this because everyone calls me emo now i don't personally look emo but my music taste says somewhat otherwise to people. It was something that came to mind fast and had meaning to me. I mean like everyone and I mean everyone called me emo at some point. now the "X" got there well i just added a letter to change it up a bit. Im not sure if i should keep it as "emxo" or change it to "emo".

Sakura is great, as long as you learn not to press it onto the surface too hard. Find a nice medium.

I was thinking it would be nice to have a list of names people are already using, especially the legends or other big players. I don't know if I would eventually get into doing graffiti myself, but already started working on a number of names just so I can start playing with the idea. None are on that list with exception to one that has a 'y' on the eld from one I have in mind, but already considered a couple number of suffixes I could add to the ones I have in mind. Some of the words I have in mind come from another language, and I keep seeing people that speak languages that use a different script do their graffiti in Latin script. Anyone got anything to note about using scripts other than Latin for graffiti? For a few I had in mind, the language of origin uses Devanagari script, and I think that would be pretty limited in the styles you could write it in.

i remember when i got in to graff my tag was sami that i later changed to sanne which is my tag now. when i started to use sanne i didint know who sane was. then later some guys got angry at me for using sanne as my tag. they told me to change my tag because it was too close for sane but i never changed it because i live in Finland and its like 600000km away from usa. i dont have any cool backstory to these names, i just wanted to tell this

Yeah how far away the legend is doesn't matter, it's disrespectful regardless. With that said, you are spelling it different, so it could be seen like pose from msk using the legends name pose 2 though thats debatable. ALL THAT BEING SAID, your spelling isnt a prefix of a suffix so don't be surprised if most people give you zero respect because your name should be changed. Edit: I didn't have the time to write this initially but I have a second now. Check out the blog links in the description (the tag name one). That one has plenty of info on this topic about having a legends name and if I remember correctly we have a section with examples for situations like yours
