Multi: SOG. I don't know the exact model but I've had it for quite a few years, and that monstrous bite strength has proven very advantageous. Folder: Vic Compact. I have smaller hands, so I find the 2-3 layer SAKs to be ideal, and the Compact has everything I use most often in a slightly better incarnation than the SOG Fixed: now I don't carry a fixed blade as part of my Edc, so I'm going to diverge slightly from that line of reasoning here and go with my scraemsax. I find that when I'm in the woods with a full range of basic tools I pull that out more often than anything because it's a hefty but very wieldy chopper. It can take down a small tree, split wood, or carve a roast, and for any lighter tasks I have my SAK.

That’s good. I don’t think a person needs to edc a fixed blade necessarily. But they should have one for when the need arises.

Great video and very thought provoking. My multitool is currently a Leatherman Sidekick. But after watching your video, I'm considering a Swiss Tool. My folder is the Kershaw Drivetrain, which has a glass breaker and a seat belt cutter. Those are useful tools for urban EDC. My fixed blade is the Cold Steel Recon Scout. Now I know that's kinda large, but mostly I don't carry it unless I'm out in the woods where it fits in a little better.

My entire edc was started from this exact premise, the "1 tool option" is never an option... everything has a purpose.

I still carry my long sword as my EDC along with a battle axe and a swiss army knife (mostly for tweezers and toothpick). Admittedly it's a bit bulky on public transport but no one's complained so far.

Around home, I have more tools than most ten men. It’s when I pack for an outdoor adventure I find it a challenge to balance portability and weight with usefulness. While I busted my hip last time out, my pack still has my; Leatherman Surge, Cold Steel Recon 1, Fallkniven A1 and a Bacho Laplander saw for what was a summer 4 day trip.

in my EDC bag, I have a Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker Knife. An old school Gerber Multi tool with full sized pliers and one hand open. And the newest knife is the Cold Steel Voyager Drop point folder, with 4 inch blade. Now if I am going camping or fishing, I will carry a small fixed blade. like the Buck 117 Brahma, a Tomahawk, like the Cold Steel Hudson Bay hawk, and a Stanley folding pocket saw that uses six inch reciprocating blade. So you will always have a sharp saw. Plus you can get different blades for cutting different things. That is my bare bones "Cutting Tools" One is none, two is one, three is better.

Great video 1. Victorinox MX Clip 2. Kizer Sheepdog(just for fun) 3. Brisa Trapper 95 flat grind I was very surprised to see your choice of the Spirit X, I have one as well, so happy with it, so I've got the MX Clip. I have Wave as well, I like the Arc, but price is high. Do you have the need of axe or a saw? Great channel, nice videos lately, just subscribed. Cheers 👍

My question is would you change anything out if you could not use a sheath? I have drifted away from fixed blade and only carry one if I see a need. Folders can be light and can be put almost anywhere on your body "safely."
@Teakettlefarm
@Teakettlefarm 3 күн бұрын
I usually only carry one when necessary as well. Making the assumption that no sheath applies to the Multitool as well, is switch that to a leatherman p4. Otherwise I’d stick with it.

Nice video. I EDC a Rat1 and a Victorinox Compact, but the 3 tools I bring canoe tripping (my weird niche outdoor activity of choice) is Esee 6, 15” Agawa bow saw, and the Rat 1. This gives me two good tools for fire prep at the end of each day, and the Rat is a great slicer for cordage and food. I have a Leatherman Sidekick in my daily backpack but it doesn’t make the cut on my trips. Weight is a huge priority.

My go to's are: Microtech Socom Elite Auto Leatherman Surge Bark River Bravo 1.5 Through the military, being a handyman, roofer, rigger and outdoorsman these have been beat on and put through hell. I do have smaller fixed blades I edc as well, but if I could only choose one, it'd be the medium size Bravo 1.5 in 3v.

For me, here in the UK, in the past if I was going on a long camping/hiking trip, Buck Selkirk small folder, Mora Bushcraft Black, a Leatherman Sidekick. But now I'd change that slightly and instead of taking a separate multi tool and folder I'd replace both with my Victorinox Rangergrip 79 and put a small pair of needle nosed pliers in my backpack. 👍

My mind immediately went to if these were the only 3 I could have forever. And I went with the Leatherman Surge, Becker BK2, and Demko AD20. But if I could buy/sell/trade and it is what would be most practical for me day to day it would be the Surge, Bradford Guardian 3.5, and PM2.

For me impossible to answer because I travel. What's good in one environment can be useless in another. Also what am I gonna do? As far as the multitool I agree with no bits or other implements that are replaceble and therefore you can loose. As far as the fixed blade no carbon steel, no wooden handle and no leather sheath. I don't agree with the kukhri. I think it's totally overrated. Both in South America, Africa and Asia they use a lot of machetes but the kukhri you see only in Nepal and it was a fighting knife. I can imagine that Africa and South America are far away and maybe they don't know about the model but in Asia you also don't see them outside Nepal. I have bought some 6 different style local machetes in Thailand and you can't even find a kukhri model. Joker is a good brand. I have some 32 of them in my collection. I do have the Nessmuk model but it's not versatile. It's a butcher knife. But to play 'the game' I would say: SAK Pioneer, Leatherman Rebar, Fallkniven R2 Scout.
