Yeah ngl I never thought I'd specifically think "That triangle sounds beautiful", but after all this basis for comparison and already enjoying the other sounds, it really made me appreciate the craftsmanship and engineering of the fancy ones. Not because the cheap ones sounded bad by comparison, but rather because the cheap ones already sounded so good, so it made the nuances and clarity of the fancy ones, especially that sabian one, stand out even more.

Cold bent steel like that will create work hardening in that cold bent section; the sound will be hampered by the crystalline structure at the top of the triangle; that is unless the entire thing was cold bent, like you'll notice with the 12 inch Solid steel triangle. Another way to make a good triangle is to normalize it in a CLEAN oven at about 400* for an hour, ensuring the stress in the steel has been equalized, OR heat the entire thing till straw colored, and quench it. Either ALL hard, or ALL soft.

"Which sounds better?" Is so subjective because it matters more on what the percussion piece calls for. If you want a small and light twinkly triangle sound then the Abel is best. If you want a deep rich clangy sound then the rebar is best. You kind of have to experiment with different ones when you're working on a piece of music to find which one works best. There are pieces where the Abel triangle might not sound the best but a triangle of bent $10 steel from Lowes might. It also can depend on what type of striker you use.
