Check out these 3 Trick Serves, that you can use in matches.
Trick serves often have a misconception of being a flex or showing off. There’s genuine skill involved in these serves, so if you’ve developed the skill, why not use them.
Plus, they’re fun to practice and even more fun when they win you points or set you up.
Do you use any trick serves? Let me know in the comments.

I accidentally executed the second trick - fake backhand serve. Had no intention of doing it then, but haven’t been able to recreate it since. Thank you for the breakdown!

That trick pendulum serve down the line is intriguing! I’ve always used a “bottle serve” for the surprise fast serve, but recently saw a video with Waldner showing his version, which is almost a quick shovel down the line, and has “reverse” spin, so it’s breaking away from your opponent. Yours looks harder to pull off, but I’ll have to try it. It looks even more deceptive, which is wonderful. 😈

Thank you for those tips! I sometimes try using Ma Long's fake underspin pendulum, when the ball is actually dead or has a little top spin. It's very difficult and I'm sure I'm not doing it very well. But I get some people w/ it. There are a few other deceptive ones I use, like the fake reverse. One easier fake is the standard underspin w/ a teeny bit of side. Sometimes, I make it a dead ball and people think it's underspin. Another serve I've been experimenting with is an underspin that you make sure bounces near your own white line. If you do it fast, that makes it look like a fast top spin. So, players will try to hit right through it but realize it was an underspin serve when it hits the net.

Craig, nice channel! When I saw "trick serve" in the title I was hoping for an expanded review of a serve from a previos tutorial. I get nervous when serving at duece, esp in doubles. Up the middle is fine, but when I kick the overhead serve out wide it lacks power and the receiver easily passes my partner with cross court smash. Any thoughts?
@TheTableTennisServiceGuy
@TheTableTennisServiceGuy 5 ай бұрын
Without seeing it, it’s tricky to say. However, it sounds like you’re contacting the ball too high. If you let it drop lower, you’ll create more speed in the serve. Give it a try 👍

Interesting especially serve 2 is kinda crazy if ur oponent doesnt know it yet. The fake reverse pendulum however is not so deceptive and pretty easy to see to be honest. It's much better to learn the real top/side-spin variant of the reverse pendulum (contacting the ball to the top-right of the rubber close to the handle) and do that very similar to the normal back/side-spin which is much much harder for people to tell even when they saw it many times already.

@@Brezinski1000 but u do know the reverse pendulum and how it looks like in general? coz his fake pretty easy to distinguish from it, like hitting the ball to the left instead of right thats easy to see man u cannot disguise that
@Brezinski1000
@Brezinski1000 5 ай бұрын
@@Blackain66 well....if it were easy to see generally, Craig would not bother to show in a video. I had 2 other players look at it and they couldn't spot it either. I guess if one is 2200 or up in ranking, it's easy to see. I would love to hear from some other folks. Regards.
