The one fall story that I like from IMR Scary Tales was the story about an evil scarecrow that came to life in a cornfield! It reminded me of Harold from Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark as well as the evil scarecrows from the Goosebumps story, ' The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight ', and the scarecrow from the Creepshow episode, " The Companion "! A pentagram is a pagan symbol from nature religions. The Christian church with its goal to bring 'civilization' (i.e. gain worldly power) connected everything religious to their own narrative: "Yule is the celebration of the birth of Christ", "a pentagram is the sign of Satan", "your nature spirits are actually demons", etc. It pisses me off to no end when people go beyond using their religion as a source of strength for their own lives and start to tell others what to do and not do. Evil stuff and taboos are what horror is all about: they cause fear and discomfort. I understand that if horror evokes strong negative emotions, one can resort to their religion, but it is never an excuse to try and censor others.
