and here is my Halloween Story My name is Casey Parker. I am eight years old. I have shaggy blond hair and blue eyes. I live with my grandfather in an apartment in Seattle, Washington. My grandfather is a big, grizzly bear sort of man. He has long white hair and a beard like Santa Claus. He mostly likes to dress in jeans, long-sleeved shirts, and a black hoodie. I think he is in his middle 50s. He and I are very close. We moved to Seattle after my parents died in a fire. The firemen got me out of the fire, but could not save my mom and dad. My grandfather was the only family member I had so I became his. I was only a baby so I have no memory of the fire. There are no pictures of me and my parents because they were all destroyed in the fire. My grandfather likes to snuggle with me when we are watching TV. I sit on his broad lap and he wraps his huge arms and hands around me. We have many pictures of us together from when I was a baby to now when I am eight. He often tells me “I am so happy you are mine.” My grandfather takes very good care of me. He taught me how to swim in the indoor swimming pool in our apartment complex. We also have a basketball court nearby and shoot baskets together. He helps me with my homework and reads bedtime stories to me before putting me to bed. Sometimes he lets me sleep with him if there is a thunderstorm. I play on a soccer team with the YMCA. During the games, my grandfather holds up a sign saying “Go My Little Tiger Cub” which is embarrassing. However, I forget about it because he always takes me to a fast food restaurant after a game. I was in the Cub Scouts and when going camping my grandfather would always chaperone me to keep me safe and would know how to navigate through the woods to guide me and the rest of the Cub Scouts I was surprised he was that good I as he where he learned that and he said he was also in the scoots as a boy and look like he was haunted by it like he had bad memories though. one night when I was asleep in bed I had a dream where I came into another apartment there was a family of a man and woman and a teenage girl sitting at the dining room table they ask me to join them and were talking to me like I was a part of the family but before I could these big bulk broad Hooded Figure dress like the Ghost of Christmas Future with no face and giant hands with gloves on them showed up from behind me and grabbed me then carried me out of the room and down the hallway and out of the apartment and high black van and we drove away I was snuggled in the arms of the hooded figure who grabbed me and feeling overwhelmed with fright and confusion not know what was going to happen then I woke up wondering what that was about I went into grandfather bedroom ask to sleep with him and he snuggled me in his arms My grandfather is always concerned for my safety. He doesn't let me play alone outside. He taught me not to talk to strangers and to look both ways before crossing the street. I know not to wander off from his side when we are together outside or in a store. We always go trick or treating at the local Zoo during their Halloween fest. This year I dressed as a Blue Ninja and my grandfather dressed as “The Ghost of Christmas Future” from the Dickens Christmas Story. When we got out of the car at the zoo, my grandfather warned me in his deep voice “Stay close, I don't want to lose you.” However, I was so excited as we walked, surrounded by other children and the zoo employees dressed as monsters handing out candy that I got separated from him. When he found me, he grabbed me by the shoulder and made me sit down on a bench with him while he told me a story. He told me that one winter night in the big city of New York, a teenage girl was supposed to be watching her baby brother in their family apartment. However, she went to her friend's apartment on the next floor for a while. When she got back her baby brother was gone. The police never found the baby or who took the child. I asked if my grandfather knew who took the child. My grandfather answered that it was a lonely man who needed a purpose in life. He took the child and drove away from New York all the way to Seattle to make a new start. He named the baby Casey Parker and raised the boy as his own. I started to shiver and slowly said,, but grandfather my name is Casey Parker and we live in Seattle. He gave me a big bear hug saying “Yes, my little tiger cub, and I hope you learn why you must never wander off.” Grandfather stood up from the bench picked me up with his big arms and carried me off. He walked out into the parking lot. Grandfather said, “I am so happy that you are mine, that you will always be mine.” I lay my head on my grandfather's broad shoulder. I was overwhelmed not with joy, but with fright and confusion. Was my grandfather really my kidnapper? Am I living a lie? Was that what my nightmare was trying to tell me about Where might my real family be? My life had felt so perfect, I don't know what to do?
