Good tutorial but i wish you would just say, like 1-4-5-7 for chords. To make it easier to understand. And display it on the screen instead of just reciting it.

My question is how do you know c scale Lydian is what you needed? Like how do you already know that’s what you needed? It was just one note and it changes the scale from c major to c Lydian? That’s like incredibly hard detecting in terms of ear training right? Like you just know I need Lydian for my chord progression…😮how do you just know that? Is there some sort of way to know what chord go good with what scale? I guess I’m just trying to break it down into some mathematical or scientific terms because I don’t understand how to create music that sounds good. I’m more like well if it’s in the scale it HAS to be good right?😢

Hello fellow baffled person. The answer is that YOU decide. From the route note (c here), do you want to write a song in minor, major, phrygian scale (The Offspring do phrygian well!). This determines the notes/scale that will give your song the flavour. You can then write other parts in that key/mode (with some deviation if it sounds good) Let me know if that is unclear. I am just trying to learn the same as you, but this made sense to me. Also watch Signals Music Studio on KZbin for a brilliant exposition of the modes.
