is it ok for the heel of the foot in front to lift or does it always have to be flat on the floor in the Regular Link when you rock back?

That’s a great question. Truth to be told it depends on few thing such as the speed of the music, level of the dancer and your intention to the movement. Our philosophy is that technique should be a guide line for each person to find their unique expression. As long as it looks good and feels connected to the partner and related to the music everything goes. But to be more specific you can try different versions and see what respond you get from your partner and which version feels more connected. Also video tape yourself and make an observation or send the video to a coach that you are working with and ask for their opinion. We’ve seen people doing it different way and still looking good. Just remember we are all different and technique needs to be customized to each person individually. Make sure you have fun and don’t get frustrated with the process. There is only one person that needs to like it and that’s you :)
