Getting Eaves is very important my house has them and it helps the wear and tear on the doors. The rain doesn't beat against the doors and that could be a problem. For a sliding glass door I recommend the SunSetter awning because my door would have brought it out by now if I didn't have protection because it always gets the rain beating on it.

So true! We put eaves on all houses, that's a great point
@niecek.64733 жыл бұрын
I like the eaves idea, it will keep the water away from the house plus where we are going to put a single wide on our small lot in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, it will keep the heat/elements away from the sides too. The outdoor lighting is smart too-it looks classy too! Of course the soft close cabinets is a must and people notice that big time if you ever sell. We plan to sell our place eventually. How about putting those lights on back side too? Also, how about cabinets in kitchen going to the ceiling? More storage? Just wondering if that is an option? 🤗
@KerryTarnow3 жыл бұрын
I've heard Lake Havasu is awesome! Yeah you could put the lights on the back too. Definitely could do cabinets to the ceiling no problem.

I have soft close drawers, which I like, but they can break. I have one now that needs to be fixed and its only 2 1/2 yrs old.I don't have them on my cabinets, but I do have pads to prevent loud banging.Not expensive for the upgrades. Well done. I enjoy your videos.

I'm just starting the process of looking at homes (U.S.). I'm curious with the eaves, can you make an enclosed deck/porch. Would the eaves be a plus or minus for this?
@KerryTarnow3 жыл бұрын
You certainly can. If you want it built in the factory it just has to be on the end of the home as opposed to off the side. That way it can be shipped.

I have a 2006 doublewide. Already here when I bought in 2009, so didn't get to pick out features. If I got to choose, drywall walls, full height (8'2") side walls, standard exterior back door, decent cabinets (not particleboard with vinyl coating), outdoor electrical plug near front door.
@KerryTarnow3 жыл бұрын
8'2 side walls is a very nice feature. Thanks for watching Lynn

Nice and smart. Seems to me, if the unseen sides of any home face south or west--particularly in hot climes--an overhang is enormously helpful in regulating temperature.

Isn't that the truth about the soft close! Don't forget the toilet lid as well. Slamming still happen sometimes and it's been 2 years 🤣. Kerry, would it be possible to do a short video on how a home is put together, the bones and structure? I was worried about buying a manufactured home but my husband says they are held to a higher standard than the stick and mortar. And I have been pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort. I was expecting it to be drafty and rickety but it's been very solid and comfortable in extreme weather.
@KerryTarnow3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha we have one toilet with soft close and one without so it’s a constant struggle 😂. Yeah I have been wanting to make that exact video just waiting until I can make a trip over to the factory! the one thing that I insist on that should be standard on all home is T&T walls.... I hate VOG panels and the batten strips, they make the house look cheap and poorly planned. yet the house is no cheaper... the outdoor lighting is also important... security.... I insist on an all electric home and a home thats "Future-Proofed" adding tv and telephone jacks is also important... my home could be sold as commercial space the way I have my home done.... anything forgotten prior to the build just adds to future headaches....

A Sheriff's Deputy is said to have told folks in a neighborhood experiencing burglaries that exterior lighting can direct where the house is vulnerable. As for soft-closing drawers and doors, learn to close them gently. Now the eves, they are a true improvement that will likely pay for itself over time.
