You could have done a far better job with a number 4 smoothing plane on the 4 long sides and the vertical belt sander for the two ends. Now you have to deal with all the scratch marks of the Disc Sander and remove them. You should have used the belt sander instead of a Disc Sander because the wood is 3 and 1/2 in wide and the belt is 4 in wide and you would have had the scratches going with the grain

Hmmm, might work better if you put a sanding disc on that thing! Looks like a lot of bare metal on that disc!

@@alexgibbs123 Brand new? Even though I own this sander, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell that there are only fragments of sandpaper on the 8" disc. Yeah, would definitely work better with some sandpaper. Look at the finished product. All it did was push the fibers into the milled gaps of the letters.
