Harptones is the best. It's probably the best doo wop song of them all too. :)

All due respect to all the groups that recorded this (I have many other favorites also) but Willie Winfield and the Harptones just own this one.(its history, should be required listening in all schools)

Love all three groups. Each has done some outstanding work and given us great memories. For this particular song, my ranking would be Harptones, Devotions, and Dell-Vikings

Etta James, Jo Stafford both did this song really good.......... I maybe partial but I prefer the Harptones as the best. Great "slow dance" song...

I like all the different versions I'd listen in equal measure, the slow ones like the Harptones and Dion, etc if the man wants to hug his woman whilst dancing then if the man wants to really dance the rock and roll with his woman then it's the Del-Vikings version

From my perspective, the Harptones is really the definitive version of this song, but I really like the Dell Vikings version as well for a change of pace.

I think that and the version from Marcels was interrested . I 'll try to find it but was difficult. Doo Wop was, is , and will be the best music all over the world

There were so many versions of "A Sunday Kind of Love". The original was first done by Jo Stafford in 1947. The best version by far was by the Harptones, and there were two versions by the same group. This one as you can hear is the 45 version that I have, the 78 version had a bit slower pace than this one which was an alternate take.

How is this even a question?? The Del-Vikings version is vastly superior. Their production quality isn't quite as nice as that of other groups, but from a composition and vocal quality perspective, they nailed it.They brought an intensity to the song that no one else has been able to bring.

I want a Sunday kind of love A love to last past Saturday night And I'd like to know it's more than love at first sight And I want a Sunday kind of love Oh yea yea I want a a love that's on the square Can't seem to find somebody Someone to care And I'm on a lonely road that leads to no where I need a Sunday kind of love I do my Sunday dreaming, Oh yea And all my Sunday scheming Every minute, every hour, every day Oh I'm hoping to discover A certain kind of lover Who will show me the way And my arms need someone Someone to enfold To keep me warm when Mondays and Tuesdays grow cold Love for all my life to have and to hold Oh and I want a Sunday kind of love Oh yea yea yea I don't want a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday, Friday or Saturday Oh nothing but Sunday oh yea I want a Sunday Sunday I want a Sunday kind of love Oh yea Sunday, Sunday, Sunday kind of love

Did anyone notice in the recent film "An Education", a female nightclub singer performs this song during a scene?

The Devotions had a big hit: Rip Van Winkle. The other side of that record is a superb version of "For Sentimental Reasons." Check it out.

Don't ;like the up beat verision. Try the Marcels for an acceptable cover.
