Call yourself a waterfall lover? Take this 3 Waterfalls Hike on Lake Brienz near Lauterbrunnen Valley, Interlaken, and Grindelwald, Switzerland (some of the best places to visit in the Swiss Alps)! End the hike at the magnificent Giessbach Falls!
--
// WATERFALL 1: Erschwandenbach Falls //
A moderate 15-20 minute walk uphill from the Erschwanden bus stop. Not very tall, but the water falls in a straight line. Bench and tree stumps provide a great picnic spot.
// WATERFALL 2: Mülibach Falls //
An easy, slightly uphill 15 minute walk from Iseltwald. Tall waterfall. You can walk BEHIND the waterfall, which is super cool! There is also a long stream flowing down that you can walk beside. Plenty of big rocks to climb/sit on and gaze at the falls.
HIKE: Divert from the official 3 Waterfalls Trail and walk along Lake Brienz from Iseltwald to Giessbach for the best views!
// WATERFALL 3: Giessbach Falls and Grandhotel Giessbach //
This is the most impressive (and the most touristy) waterfall of the 3 Waterfalls Hike - but totally worth it! Fairly easy hike. You can also walk BEHIND this waterfall too! It’s loud, misty, but absolutely worth the view of Lake Brienz, Grandhotel Giessbach, and the mountains. It cascades down 14 different levels, and there is a path that crosses midway over the waterfall for great views. Note: there is a funicular from Lake Brienz to the Grandhotel.
Note: The official 3 Waterfalls trail runs from Bönigen to Iseltwald to Brienz, but we shortened the hike by starting near Erschwandenbach and ending at Giessbach.
We recommend that you go backwards: start at Giessbach since it has the most limiting transportation options (Lake Brienz ferry), then hike to Mulibach, and end at Erschwandenbach.

-In our opinion, you can’t take a trip to Switzerland without visiting our favorite Swiss alpine villages: MURREN AND GIMMELWALD. (Hint: The North Face Trail gives great views of both!)

Beautiful pictures. Brings back a lot of memories. As a kid I spent several summer holidays at the Giessbach Hotel. As a kid I loved the ships on the lake and the cable car to the hotel. Hi Morgan! From the boat dock at Giessbach, you can hike up to the hotel in about 20-25 minutes, and then it's no more than a 5-minute walk to the falls! The hike from Giessbach to Iseltwald takes about 1.5 hours. It's relatively flat, but has quite a few tree roots and rocks which might make it difficult for those who aren't sure-footed or are less stable. Thanks for watching our videos!

We’re you able to sleep well during your flight from NYC to Zurich while in economy? My wife and I are thinking of visiting Switzerland but we need to sleep as much as we can. I remember being on Air Canada’s Economy Plus to London and it wasn’t horribly comfortable.
@AplinsintheAlps
@AplinsintheAlps 2 жыл бұрын
Sleeping on airplanes can be such a dilemma! On this particular flight nearly every person had their own row to stretch out since it wasn’t crowded. But there was only 3-4 hours of time to sleep between dinner and breakfast. Brett can usually get a few hours of sleep on the plane, but I’ve never been able to sleep on transportation. If sleep is truly an issue, we recommend booking business class where you have more space, comfortable seats, and sometimes the possibility to recline into a flat position (like a bed). Also, Switzerland is absolutely worth visiting! But maybe you need to take a long nap when you arrive to make up for the lack of sleep and jet lag 😉
