You could also use an external intervalometer for method 3.

thank you for pointing out and trying to explain all the intricacies of this motion lapse feature. I am planning to purchase a Ronin SC but I am not sure I understand how it works and if it really works. But at least I know it exists and can explore its possible functions

Stupid question (but one I haven't seen answered anywhere... Maybe because it stupid).. But when you record a motion lapse through the Ronin app, do you need to physically switch you camera to photo mode first? Or if you were in movie mode, does the Ronin take over and automatically switch the camera to take photos instead of record video?
@FaceLens
@FaceLens 4 жыл бұрын
Martin Katscan that’s not a stupid question at all and when I’m using this functionality with my ronin Sc and Sony a7iii I found that you have to make sure first you are on the photo mode then put all your exposure settings to make sure you get the perfect and balanced colors then start and use your mobile to put the ronin SC to start and capture your motion lapse

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Your videos are very helpful, been watching since last year. Can I assume that option 2 will also work similarly for RSC2? My camera (Sony A7) is in the compatibility list for Ronin SC, but not for RSC2. And I'm wondering if it's better to buy the newer model even if my camera is not compatible since I have the timelapse feature in the camera. I mainly want to use the gimbal for astrophotography.

So does it work if you're on the move, or does the Ronin SC have to be on a a tripod?. I want to do a hyperlapse with my Nikon Z6. It will do a timelapse, but the screen goes dark while it's recording, which is a bummer. I want to mount it on the Ronin SC, and do the time lapse from a moving boat while hand holding. It seems to me that I will have to use method 2 and put up with the black screen.

Does it do the waypoints in a sharp line only or is there a setting to make it curve slightly. Or how do i get a curve move, like an arc ?
@TreeTanksDev

Its straight lines but maybe you can do more waypoints to make it look like curve. Or you can make it curve more naturally in post editing, it should look more natural.

Nice tutorial, however the timelapse at 10:10 isn't fluid. It's because the motion from A to B is too wide for the number of pictures taken. So to be fluid with the same panning, it needs more pictures (smaller interval between each shot).
@TreeTanksDev
@TreeTanksDev 5 жыл бұрын
Stéphane Larocque yeah i totally agree.. the angle was much too wide... a much smaller angle would have looked much better and more natural. Thanks for the tip!
@TreeTanksDev
@TreeTanksDev 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry i misread! Yeah smaller intervals with more photos would make the motionlapse look better. =)

I am trying to work the timelapse function with the Ronin SC, I am shooting with the fujifilm XT3. Currently I am using the included USB-C cable, as long as I turn the camera on after the Ronin then the app will operate the shutter. It seems ok when doing a relatively fast shutter but when using a 3 second shutter I am seeing blur in the images in the same direction as the track. I'm wondering if it is still moving while starting the shutter. Any thoughts? I know there is an alternative cable for the Fuji which uses the RSS port instead of USB.
@TreeTanksDev
@TreeTanksDev 5 жыл бұрын
John Stoddard hey there! I believe you see referring to the Panasonic RSS cable on the DJI website. I’ve never used a Fujifilm before so i don’t know how fast the Autofocusibg system is. I would guess that because 3 secs is pretty fast, by the time the camera focuses on the image and snaps the photo, the gimbal already starts moving. To counter this, try using Manual focus instead of Autofocus. OR if you want to stick to Autofocus mode, you can increase the F-stop to, for example F12 or F22, that should reduce the Autofocus time as at F22, the image will be infinity. So if you are shooting in low light, you can increase the ISO. Here is a timelapse in low light. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJjSY2qar7CCeJY

@TreeTanksDev
@TreeTanksDev 4 жыл бұрын
Hmm that only happens to me when the picture is not in focus. Only shots that are in focus, the shutter will trigger and take a picture. The best way to test it out is to shoot in Manual focus on your Sony.

Ronin SC panorama/Timelapse/Motionlaps related : During using Ronin SC with sony A7iii 17-28mm f2.8 (Lens) setup my all video function & gimbal working perfectly.. But problem is when i'm intend to create panorama/Timelapse/Motionlapse through Ronin App, in App its showing 100% done but in my sony a7iii i didn't getting the captured picture. It will be great help if you have any solution for this... Note : Gimbal adjustment/balance perfect done from my end & checked through app+calibration also done.

Arif Rahman hey there! I guess things to recheck is whether you are using the correct cable specifically for Sony. And whether you have plugged it in correctly. The angled side of the usb-c cable needs to be plugged into the Ronin SC. The straight side of the usb-c goes into the camera. Next thing to check when doing the motionlapse... whether the photo is in focus. If the photo is not in focus, the photos wont be taken. Hope this helps! 😀

Arif Rahman no worries! Depends on if you are doing day or night motionlapses. During the day, i use autofocus, but at night i prefer to use manual focus. You can try it out in a brightly lit area first to see if it works correctly in autofocus mode. 😀

@@TreeTanksDev I have found a strange behaviour with time-lapse on the SC. I set up a 180 degree pan/time-lapse. Up to about 1/2 way the gimbal keeps the camera level (green overlay line) then past 1/2 way, the gimbal doesn't keep the camera level. It doesn't do this in preview, only when under app control. I'd appreciate if you could try this out. My settings are 1sec, 3minutes. 180 shots. What I have seen is the green level lines on GH5 start out BOTH green, but as pan progresses, the up/down line remains green, the side to side line goes yellow. I am waiting for DJI response...
@JohnnyMotel99
@JohnnyMotel99 5 жыл бұрын
what if the shutter fires at just the moment the gimbal shifts?
@TreeTanksDev
@TreeTanksDev 5 жыл бұрын
this will make the photos blurry. its better to turn off the Live Preview on the camera and set to Manual focus mode if your camera autofocusing is slow or if shooting at night. This will prevent the camera from missing taking a photo. If the focus is off, the camera won't take a photo.
