I have only one angel fish and it laid eggs is it possible for them to Stihl hatch or don't I need both male and female fish
@Fishtory8 ай бұрын
The females will still spawn sometimes, but as far as is documented, no. The eggs are not fertile without the male gametes ... although many fish can a sexually reporduce, so it wouldnt be wildly unreal for it to happen at some point

Going to be fun to see how things work out with the two methods.

Well natural method went downhill and off the chart immediately. Pops got stressed and decided to eat the fry after he moved them all to various leaves 2x in 4 hours. I guess the purr protein and yolk sac on each baby helps them recoup energy in the wild, however now I have no females...so lets hope the 30 or so being low tech/tumbled make it.

@@Fishtory - I had a couple pairs that did the same thing as long as they were in a community tank. Once I put them in a tank by them selves for spawning they did find.

@@jlathem56 yeah ill have to try that if i can raise the other fry even... this is a pretty wild line (f3 i think)... but that's a good suggestion

@@Fishtory - Have you looked at the rearing jars? I have a friend that uses them very successfully. These people make prefab kits or you can buy the kits and you can get your jar locally. Or they can supply the jars and the kits at the same time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppDRn3ljl8h4bcU This is a multipart series showing the jar usage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3-Yanx_fcR1a8U

@@jlathem56 no i dont think i have unless you mean a container with input and overflow that swirls the water and the fry swim in a circle.

Nature is amazing! I’m also worried the babies will get eaten by the other fishies in the tank.

Yes, the pops is solo now and he will likely get stressed and eat his kids.... bad evolution in my opinion lol

The Secret History Living in Your Aquarium first time parenting is always hard in any species. Hopefully you’ll have at least another female from the batch to replace the mom. Please keep us updated. Thank you 🙂

I'm so sorry. I never even thought about the fact that fish can have perinatal complications (or postnatal in this case). Poor momma.

Yeah cichlids are fickle and mess up their first 2 or 3 batches very frequently.

@@Fishtory hopefully storing them in his mouth. At least you had the good sense to remove some. I hope those in the breeder box are doing okay. I dropped my phone in the Gulf of Mexico. As soon as I can retrieve my photos, I'll send them to you for the art we talked about. It will probably be this weekend. I'm working all this week. You know how weird it is to be without a phone? For some reason (I must have a setting wrong somewhere) all the data on my phone has not been shared with my ipad. Annoying!

Yeah it's a bummer... she lost a big glob of tissue when she laid the eggs...i happened to be watching and filming, and in my autopsy she seemed to have no blood, except a sac full of it in one ovaduct

It is always sad to hear that mum, passed away. It is great to hear dad is still on guard. This morning I noticed, two of my discus had paired up, oh joy, but an hour later after they laid there eggs on the out pipe of the external filter, the parents ate the eggs. Good luck Alex with all ways you are trying out.

I realize that this video is about 6 months old but hopefully you'll still answer me .. I have a breeding pair of Angels (super sorry about your female). The first clutch they ate .. the second one they didn't eat but got fungus. So I purchased the same tumbler a while back after the last clutch died. Do I use a Turkey baster to suck them up and when do I know when to take control of them. Please help .. thx Jill
