Because of the high gear ratio the worm gear has a lot of tourqe, it takes a lot of force to move the worm gear from the side that the strings are on for that reason. You could do calculations to figure out the torque of the worm gear, then make a free body diagram to see that it takes a lot of downward force to overcome the torque.

Hi, Aryan! I'm a mechanical engineering student in Brazil, and i'd love to "freelance" as a cad designer. I've been through a corse of solidworks, I don't know, however, if my skills are enough the freelance stuff. Also, since i have never done a professional design, i don't know the dos and don'ts of it or the necessities and requirements of the design. Would love some reply, if possible. Thank you, Thiago
@with-Aryan
@with-Aryan Жыл бұрын
Hi Thiago! It's great to hear that you're interested in freelancing as a CAD designer. SolidWorks knowledge is a valuable skill in the industry. To determine if your skills are sufficient for freelancing, you can start by building a portfolio showcasing your SolidWorks projects and designs. This will demonstrate your capabilities to potential clients. When it comes to professional design, there are some important factors to consider. It's crucial to have a good understanding of design principles, engineering standards, and best practices. Familiarize yourself with industry-specific requirements and regulations that may apply to the projects you work on. Communication and collaboration skills are also essential, as you'll need to interact with clients to understand their needs and deliver designs that meet their expectations. Additionally, continuous learning and staying updated with new features and techniques in SolidWorks will help you improve your skills and stay competitive in the field. Starting with smaller projects and gradually expanding your client base can help you gain valuable experience and confidence as a freelance CAD designer. Good luck on your journey, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions!

So many questions. So how did you wash under the harness? We didn't see the rinse bucket, or whatever being used. Where do you store the contraption when you need a shower? Did someone actually pay you to design that? If you earned $300/hour to design that, I want to know the customer. By the way... Misumin is small potatoes compared to what's available on McMaster-Carr.

I am releasing a new GD&T course soon. Stay tunned
@jeffminnich3291
@jeffminnich3291 5 ай бұрын
it all starts with a properly dimensioned drawing. GD&T and tolerance stack-ups don't work if you don't dimension the drawing correctly in the first place. fits are determined by function as well as size and locational tolerancing. You need to know how it will be made and the capabilities of the machine(s). Then you can take all that and add cost effectiveness into the equation. It gets easier with time. Enjoy.

I think it's wrong but to ask for budget at the start. I would say this should be the second question with first one being something to give you a rough idea of what the project is. I've spent way too much time in meetings with people who's projects would have involved 10x work than what their budget was.
@with-Aryan
@with-Aryan 8 ай бұрын
Its just another way of looking at things, once you know their budget, you can have a look at what they are looking for, and then inform them regarding the real budget, or often then not people are unaware of how niche CAD is, and the costs that come with it.

I'm an industrial designer, I have a skill set that is a good ratio of visual styling prowess, problem solver, concept to manufacture, quote drawing to production drawings even packaging specs. I have probably a 5/10 in Class A surfacing using Solidworks. Essentially everything needed to solve problems to a production ready files. Almost 20 years experience but I still only charge $ 80AUD / hour to clients that pretty much give me 50-60hrs a month. My question is, I look at job placement websites and most only offer around 100K per year for onsite senior roles which only translate to around $50AUD/hour. How do i find clients that are willing to go beyond what I find is on offer on job sites? Personally I feel my level of experience is worth around $120-150 but my competition are full time on site design engineers. FYI, I don't do heavy mechanical design work, only simple mechanical design work that can be found usually in the home or shops.

After a few years of experience its always better to even start your own gig, the market at times based on your locality might never give you the rate you demand, that is why setting a business online can help, and since you are the Boss, you can demand your rate and clients will pay that, as long as you delivery quality work.

I've been in design for over 30 years. One thing you can always use to help with getting more money than the initial job pays is to add bonus programs to your job performance. Bonuses are looked at different, it just depends on the company. I'm in the same situation as far as I need a way to market myself to get the compensation I feel is deserved for the work that I can do. I'm just looking now, I've got a great portfolio but getting a good client that needs exactly what I am really good at is the tough part. Always be looking or you miss the great opportunities. I've found the best all around is engineering/manufacturing contract businesses. They get allot of diverse projects that keep you moving. Good luck.

In the "Add-ins" window, click on the "Browse" button and locate the downloaded extension file 4. Once you have found the extension file, select it and click "OK" 5. After you have added the extension, it will appear in the list of SolidWorks add-ins 6. Finally, check the box next to the Misumi extension to enable it. Now, the Misumi extension will be available in the SolidWorks "Command Manager" toolbar. You can use it to access Misumi components and configure them to match your requirements.

last i saw on a 3D printing group a typical hourly rate was $25/hr. you talk about quality. quality is dependent on how easy is the model to edit, how likely it is to fall apart when translated., etc. being able to incorporate in parametric modeling, logic, spreadsheets, etc is a plus. GD&T works in with the larger design assembly. this meaqns signoffs. this means waiting around till the head engineer can sign off which adds time. doing GD^T means knowing math and the manufacturing operations. manytimes machinists struggle with this level of math. seems you are leaving alot out.
@with-Aryan
@with-Aryan Жыл бұрын
You make some valid points about factors that can affect the hourly rate for 3D modeling services, such as the complexity of the model and the level of detail required. Additionally, incorporating parametric modeling, GD&T, and other design elements can require specialized knowledge and skills, which may also impact the hourly rate. I agree that quality is an important consideration when it comes to 3D modeling, and factors such as ease of editing and translation can have a significant impact on the overall quality of the design. However, it's also important to consider other factors such as the level of experience and expertise of the designer, as well as their ability to communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders. Regarding GD&T, I agree that this can be a complex topic that requires specialized knowledge and math skills. However, it's also an important aspect of many engineering and manufacturing processes, and can help ensure that designs are functional, manufacturable, and meet the required specifications. As you mentioned, machinists may struggle with this level of math, which is why it's important for designers to have a solid understanding of GD&T and be able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders throughout the design process. Overall, the hourly rate for 3D modeling services can depend on a variety of factors, and it's important for both clients and designers to carefully consider these factors and ensure that the services provided meet their needs and expectations.

Where did the red round bath thing end up? + Wonder how this extension calculates parts? Because I can buy 2 m standard profile, and cut it (f you have saw and workshop that is), which will be cheaper, than ordering pre cut parts. The less work, sometimes costs more money. And what happens when you need to change these parts and components? Download new ones? And this video is just such an affiliate to Misumi. There are much faster ways to work through Weldment and structural Assemblies, than this example. Only to include price in the list? And the name for the video is misleading as well. So did you prove how to make more money with Solidworks, or did you make a convenient presentation about how to use Misumi website and extention?
@with-Aryan
@with-Aryan Жыл бұрын
Faster to work through it maybe you are right. but when it comes to actually ordering those parts, you will be exponentially slower and spend considerably more time to create drawings right, find vendors, email them and ask them for quotes, wait 2 or 3 days for their response (IF they can do it), please the order the next day, so I stand corrected. My way is considerably faster buddy, you gotta trust me on this one
