Thanks for watching! I made this video a few years ago. Over time, the mineral oil card leaked, and the other two dried up. I would suggest hand delivering these quickly, to someone who probably won't keep them forever 😉

@@PearBlossomPress I make about 100 cards. I plan to try some different methods of sealing the cards and mailing them to some “testers” to make sure they don’t pop. My plan is to use some heavy duty clear heat seal packets, fill them, and seal them with our food suck em up machine. Wish me luck. Again thanks for your tutorial.
@PearBlossomPress Жыл бұрын
@@janetjandrositz1191 I was thinking thicker, more flexible plastic sheets and an impulse sealer (like the food saver or a flat iron) would work better. I'd love to know how yours turn out!
@janetjandrositz1191 Жыл бұрын
@@PearBlossomPress that was what I was thinking too (heavier bags and hot seal + duct tape and sticky dots). I’ll post here after testing a few.

Thanks! I will have to tell you, I came across the hair gel card the other day, and it had expanded quite a bit. It's been stored out in the garage, no temperature control, and we regularly get into the 100's here. I suspect the heat caused it, but I can't say for sure.

I wonder if you could use a fuse tool to make a pouch out of some stiffer plastic? I don't have one, but it seems like it might work.
@PearBlossomPress3 жыл бұрын
You probably could, although I would recommend using the cutting/pointed tip, not the wheel. And I would go around the perimeter several times. I don't always get a good seal with my Fuse tool the first time.
@PearBlossomPress3 жыл бұрын
Update: I tried the Fuse. It didn't work :(

Very cool idea! I’m wondering how they should be handled when mailing? The USPS clerk always asks if items are “fragile, liquid, perishable, or potentially hazardous.” I see on the USPS site that hand sanitizer can be mailed, but as a hazardous material because it contains alcohol and other potentially flammable ingredients. I’m assuming this would be the same and they charge extra for that? Curious if anyone has done this? A bubble mailer would probably be best? TIA!
@PearBlossomPress2 жыл бұрын
I haven't actually mailed one, but I'm thinking a bubble mailer would be best.

Thanks this was a really good video. I had a question in relation to the mineral oil shaker. What are your thoughts on sealing the bag with fuse tool to avoid leaking?
@PearBlossomPress3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy! Thanks so much for watching. In regards to the Fuse, I haven't had the best luck with solid seals. I'm not sure if it's the plastic I've used (I've tried several types), or my technique. Usually, I get better results with the stitched tip and I create two rows all the way around. That works for sequins and glitter, but it definitely wouldn't work for liquids. However, an inexpensive IMPULSE BAG SEALER should work great! I've seen them on Amazon for $30-40. (They are slightly raised, so you should be able to seal the last side without any liquid leaking out.) I've also heard flat irons work well, but I'd want to put something between the plastic and my iron, or it might melt all over the iron. I hope that helps!
@caitlinnobles12613 жыл бұрын
So i'm curious have you tried using a hot knife to seal the bags without the zipper? I have seen it done with other things but am curious to see if it would work for this? The cards are beautiful! I am just now learning about how to make shakers and this is so helpful! I can't wait to try this out!
@PearBlossomPress3 жыл бұрын
I tried the cutting tip on my Fuse tool, but had no success. It didn't seal well enough for liquids. I have heard that a flat iron will work (although it might gum up without a carrier sheet), or an impulse heat sealer (I've seen them on Amazon for about $30). I don't make enough of these cards to pull the trigger on the impulse sealer yet, but it's still hanging out in my cart in the "for later" section.

Can we mix hair gel and mineral oil to get medium amount of movement?

Can I ask where you got that little scoop?
@PearBlossomPress2 жыл бұрын
Hi Crystal! That is a tool from Doodlebug. It has a scoop on one end, and a large ball-tip on the other. It's great for curling flower petals. I've had it for years, so I'm not certain if it's still available.

Would baby oil work?
@PearBlossomPress5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It will work just like the mineral oil and smell fabulous! (I believe baby oil is made with mineral oil.) There is also baby oil gel that would work kind of like the hair gel.
