This is essentially my nails! It’s driving me nuts not having polish on my nails but i’m following your advice and keeping them natural and doing oil soaks and have cuticle oil everywhere including my desk, kitchen sink and purse and apply after each hand wash. I just ordered this OPI and hopeful this helps as well!! Love you Anna!!! ❤ 💅

I think the Repair Mode exceeded my expectations. I find it to be almost as effective as IBX for my peeling, weak nails. I do all the oiling after washing, glove wearing, weekly oil soaks, etc., and I think that Repair Mode while I have polish off overnight is making a big difference. My peeling is pretty much confined at this point to the index and middle fingers of my dominant hand. It may not sound like much, but a year ago all 10 nails were peeling and flaking apart and had been doing so for years.

I think this is a great product, as long as you understand what it does, use it properly, and are moisturizing your hands and nails regularly. If you don't do those things, you will probably think this one product will fix all your nail problems and you will be disappointed.

If I could ❤️ your comment multiple times I would. 100% correct! Nothing is a miracle. Nails and skin need good, gentle, consistent care. These products help but they won’t help if the skin is not cared for and the nails are abused.

I had horribly peeling nails for YEARS, I thought it was a symptom of a deficiency or underlying health issue and had a bunch of blood testing done and couldn't find a cause. Then I found your channel and I started using jojoba oil. It helped a lot but my index and middle fingernails started off so bad and weren't improving as much as the others - the peeling "flaps" of nail would keep getting lifted and the peel would travel up the nail. I added in the OPI Repair Mode and found that after using it for a while, the peeling stopped travelling. I was finally able to grow the damage out and now the peeling has completely stopped. I think the OPI treatment helped keep the layers together a bit more than just the oil, like tacking down the fraying edge of fabric to keep the fray from travelling up.

The best way to find out if it’s some kind of vitamin deficiency is to look at the toenails if they are untreated with nail polish. If they are peeling or breaking then maybe. 99.9% they are fine. So the peeling and breaking on the hands is due to something external.

Thank you and your client again for another update! I really appreciate both of your patience and care. I have had great results with the product, so guessing maybe it’s just not something that works for some people for a variety of reasons 🤷🏻‍♀️ I looked at the instruction leaflet for my OPI repair mode and this is what it advises: “Treatment for bare nails: Apply 2 times a day on bare nails for 6 days for maximum efficacy. Treatment for polished nails: Apply 2 coats to bare nail before color (Nail Lacquer, Infinite Shine, Gelcolor, or Nail Envy), then follow with a single coat daily to new nail growth to strengthen from within and protect nail from the effect of daily living.”

I’ve been very pleased with the results using Repair Mode. Although not sure if it’s the product alone or the whole routine of no polish, using oil and lotion after hand washing along with weekly oil soaks. I finally put gel on after 4 weeks - it looks amazing! It’s still looking great after 10 days where it would usually be lifting by now. Thank you for all the great content!

I'm almost 3 weeks in using Repair Mode after gel damage. To your point about ridges, I naturally have deep vertical ridges, much of which were smoothed out due to damage (loss of layers). With Repair Mode, it seems the ridges are recovering (coming back with a vengeance). My nails are stronger. Notably, I have several nails that split along a ridgeline as they grow out. My right thumb actually splits starting halfway up the nail bed, well into the quick (the reason I started using gel was to hold that together and protect it, because it would catch on things and rip the nail up). This seems to have disappeared with Repair Mode (I wish I'd thought to take before/after photos). I can't tell if the splits on the others are better, because I'm keeping those nails shorter than where the splits appear. The more superficial gel damage is gone, and the worse areas look much better than before. I tend to get a fairly thick hyponychium. I feel like the hyponychium sticks more to the underside of the nail than it did before... Not sure if Repair Mode is increasing bonds between the nail and hyponychium? If it is, perhaps that is just due to how thin they are at the tip right now (more Repair Mode penetrates completely thru to the skin underneath?) and will resolve as healthier nail grows out. So far, I'm a fan. It works better than I expected.

Last year I ruined my nails with gel because I got bored easily with the same color resulting in changing the color every week or so. I decided to take January 2024 to reset my nail and used this product. For 7 days I used it twice a day then once a day at night for the rest of the month. I also used jojoba oil everyday (2-3x) along with the Repair Mode. I would do a simple dry manicure with glass tools every week (thank you for all the helpful tips! :)) and I believe the OPI Repair Mode did help improve my nails. I’m also trying to rid my habit tic deformity (thank you for that video too!) so the January reset, Repair Mode, jojoba oil, and not wearing polish helped. I still have a long way to go to get rid of the habit tic deformity but in general, I’m slowly learning more about how to use gel polish properly with proper prep, tools, and high-quality polish in order to keep them on for 3-4 weeks.

I appreciate this series of videos very much. I’ve been following along with you and your client since I’m in the same journey. My nails were a bit better than your client’s when I started off so two weeks might be the ideal span for me. I’m about to start my second week using the product twice daily. So far, I think it is helping, the surface of the nails has improved, it feels and looks smoother and the nails look healthier and beautiful. I’ve been doing my usual warm oil soaks once a week, keeping the nails short and using the oil and cream on the skin around the nails regularlly so surely that also helps a lot. Do I think this product is a miracle? No, but if you are consistent and follow all the other advice that Anna provides, it can help repair surface damage. Thank you Anna for all the informative videos and your professional advice! ❤

I like Repair Mode more than I thought I would, honestly. I do feel it "builds up" in/on the nailplate if you "overuse" it in one day. (I applied it 6 times a day for a week and there was a different texture when I rubbed my nails, not a bad feeling, just different, but went away after stopping tretament and washing hands etc) I finished my bottle (actually half of it was lost when the bottle fell over 😢) but I would purchase again.

I absolutely LOVE this series! I also appreciate that you frequently tell us not to use the e file on ourselves unless we are trained. I’ve seen plenty of photos on Fb of people who buy an e file and use it on themselves and have disastrous results. The nails are trashed and the living skin around the nails are bloody. Most of the time people use an e file because they are doing their own nail enhancements. (Another thing I don’t think people should do themselves.) My theory is they see videos of people using an e file and it doesn’t look, hard, so they figure they can do it. You, Anna, make it look easy, but we can’t see how little pressure you are using and you’ve been trained and have done it for decades. You also make polishing and not getting it on the skin look easy, but while I’ve improved a lot, I can’t not touch the skin despite watching countless videos of you polishing nails. I am very good at clean up, though. 😂 I am very interested in OPI Repair Mode, especially since I’ve had naked nails for almost three months. I’m afraid to try it due to how sensitive my skin and nails are despite my nails being dead. I won’t go into what my skin and nails have done as I am figuring you already know since I’ve droned on about the problems in the past. If I try something and my nails and/or skin react badly, it’s at least a 4-6 month growing a new nail recovery. If the skin is involved, the recovery could be even longer. I’ve had it take over a year to recover from a disaster. The client has very nice nails! There has been a big difference already. Thank you to her for allowing us to view her journey!!

I’ve started weekly warm oil soaks, OPI repair mode daily and i moisturize my nails every time I wash my hands. I’m trying to find a manicurist in my area that knows what they’re doing… so they can help me with the process and let me know when I’m ready to start nail polish again. My opinion on the Opi repair mode, I think it works great. I’ve already seen improvement.

I am currently using OPI repair mode on my nails. They are recovering from using nail polish, done at a salon. I love painting my own nails so a few years ago I did a training with a nail technician so I could learn more and do it at home. Due to lack of time and motivation, and also because when I did my nails at home they didn't last more than a week, I started going a salon. As I watched your videos, I started to get excited and curious and I thought "maybe my nails didn't last because I didn't give them the time and care to fully recover". I am fascinated by the way you work, it's amazing! I tried CND shellac and it also didn't last, but now I am following your advice and I am motivated to fully recover them and then start to do "non agressive" manicure on myself. Thank you for your videos and explanations, a big hug from Portugal 😊

It doesn't sound like this product would address my issue. My issue is serious ridges. For a while I did not buff my nails because I know buffing thins the nail. But the surface of my nails got so bad that you can see it through the nail polish. So now I buff when needed, but just very lightly, just enough to smooth the surface. I was very surprised to hear that wearing nail polish for two weeks is bad for the nails. I would have thought it was better because that means you use the harsh remover half as much. I plan to continue with every two weeks because of the time factor in doing the nails. I want to thank you, I have learned so much from you! I learned about the warm oil soak, about putting the polish on short of the cuticle and pushing it down, I learned that it's ok to file your nails in both directions (as opposed to one direction), and now I learned about buffing the tips of your nails. I've been doing my nails for literally over 50 years and I didn't know there was so much more to learn about nails! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! One last thing I wanted to share with your viewers. I've discovered Zoya. The thing I love about Zoya, besides the fact that it goes on really well, is that, if you go to their website, you can sort their nail polish by skin tone. So, my skin tone is cool, when I put on nail polish for cool skin tone the effect is WOW! I've replaced all my nail polish with Zoya cool tones and what a difference!!

People (esp. the polish companies and many derms) love to talk about the "harsh removers". But the removers are not the cause for the surface damage, the polish is See this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaeafmOum69ogdU I do love Zoya's colors and their brushes but I still prefer Dazzle Dry. But it's really all about your needs. For me the no nitrocellulose and no nail yellowing is an important thing and so is the 5 min dry so my clients can put their shoes on right after a pedicure. They can't do that with Zoya.

I’m not too crazy about Nail Envy. It’s just a clear nail polish. It used to contain formalin which was very effective. They now replaced it with something better sounding and way way less effective. If any. Nail polish in itself can damage the nails. I mean if you use it because you like the look, then for sure, use it. But if you think it will improve your nails then it won’t.

I wash my hands a lot for my work, and I think trapped moisture is the root issue. I was thinking I would need a consultation with you, but after 10 days of naked nails (and the lifted nail trimmed as far as possible) and following your advice, my nails seem to be on the road to recovery. The oil soaks seem to make a big difference. I think my nails may do best with a 3 to 4 day limit on polish with an oil soak and "night off" in between. Thanks so much for your informative content.

I love following this journey. My nails are not bad at all now, but they’ve always been a sensitive point for me because I used to chew on them. I stopped half a lifetime ago, but there’s still consequences in the aftermath, so I’m constantly mindful of how they look and how I care for them. I always have a metal nail file on me (though TSA confiscated it before the flight home 😤 so I have to buy more) and hardly ever use nail clippers. Your videos have made me realize that now my nails are hard, but also somewhat brittle. Peeling or breaking has often been an issue. I doubt I need a specific product like this OPI care, but I want to increase their flexibility -I’ve bought some jojoba oil this week, have bottled it up for use at home and on the go (those soy sauce fish-shaped containers are perfect) and will start doing weekly warm soaks ^^ Also my bf’s mother took me to my first professional manicure in January, but I only needed minimal shaping and a nice nail polish…. The technician was fast but not so thorough, as I had to whip out my own nail file too buff out some straggly bits myself afterwards. It’s good to see what proper, conscientious work looks like :)

I can’t remember all brands that were an issue but Essie is one that causes the white part of my nails to look dry and like it’s blurring into the pink area difficult to describe. Basically I think it drys the nail out, toenails the damage is all over surface damage where white marks appear.

Back when I was working my way through college, one of my nails suffered this same kind of layered peeling. It was very very frustrating because nothing I tried - peeling the layer, buffing it to blend, or filing it short - got it to stop. Nothing. After 6 months of failed strategies, I FINALLY overcame the problem by: keeping my cuticles moisturized with a good hand cream, keeping my nails polished with an obscuring color (both for protection and to deter me from trying to “fix it”) - and just letting that split area grow out FULLY before clipping the peeling portion away, leaving only a completely healthy nail tip. It was a good lesson. I came to understand that by trying to file off or clip through a peeling portion of nail, I was only compromising the nail closer to the quick. Basically I’d been setting myself up for failure, because it’s the tip of your nails that take most abuse. Your client may be in the same situation - especially since it’s winter.

Hi from Tennessee! I just wanted to say that I have learned so much from your videos (now, if I would only follow your advice…🤦🏻‍♀️). I am currently using OPI Repair Mode and it has completely transformed my nails. I used it as directed for about 4 days (that is as long as I could stand it without some color🙁), then I started putting two coats of Repair Mode, waiting 10 minutes, then adding base coat -wait 2 minutes, two coats of color - waiting 2 minutes between each, then top coat. I leave it for about 3 days, then repeat the process. I have kept my nails short to grow out the damage and it is almost all gone now. One or two more manis and it should be good. I also use Jojoba oil often and after every mani, and I found a lotion with Urea in it that. I use daily. My hands look much younger since I started using this lotion! Also, I wear gloves any time I need to be in water or chemicals for very long. I hope this helps others. I would say that YOUR WAY is best, but for those of us who have zero patience, there is still hope.😊

Hi thank you Anna! You are my nail care guru! Thanks to your client too for sharing her progress, it's looking better. I think the OPI Repair Mode is working, along with the weekly warm jojoba oil soak, for my thin peeling nails. Going with the flow, we woud use OPI Repair Mode as maintenance 1x day until all damage grows out, this is the new routine? I'm going to try that. I think people don't get that the damage isn't just on the ENDS but covers most of the nail. Damaged anywhere it was polished or had gels or buffed. The top protective layer is no longer intact. Nor do we get how frickin long it's going to take to grow a whole new healthy nail out, 4 to 6 months. Not two weeks. 😄💅🏻🖖🏼♥️

Ms. Client's nail are getting more beautiful every video! Thank you and her for these educational video as well as live testing of the Nail Repair. (I kinda hope that the first week she can wear polish, she chooses something like a clear with sparkle to show off her hard work! 😊) I feel like negative comments I've read on the nail repair were people expecting something like the miracle of using olaplex once or twice on your damaged hair/disulphide bonds, not realizing that's like expecting it to get rid of your split ends. You mentioned using the Nail repair then soaking - if someone really wanted to do some overkill nail pampering, I assume the ISDIN nail pen would go last? Or does that not pair well with already having oiled?

Anna, I am curious your thoughts about Kerasal Multi-Purpose Nail Repair - it's in a bottle and sort of liquidy like the CND Rxxx and Repair Mode in consistency but seems marketed toward a solution for fungus and such...
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 10 ай бұрын
The fungus solution is a bit of a stretch. Notice how they say "improves the look of fungal nails" or something to that effect? quote: "improving the appearance of fingernails or toenails damaged by psoriasis, gel manicures, aging or fungus" I mean it might be effective but they can't claim it cures any disease because no cosmetic can claim this. Only medication can.

I am so pleased to find your channel after it was recommended via another channel 😊 For me, Nailtiques Formula 2 Nail Protein has helped my nails the most. I did stop using it and tried the OPI keratin treatment shown in the video, however, it felt weird on my nails and I did not see improvement. My question, and I’m hoping you see this and can answer it: I finished chemotherapy in July 2023 for breast cancer. My chemotherapy infusions destroyed my nails. Slowly, with using Nailtiques Formula 2 Nail Protein, jojoba oil soaks, jojoba oil massaged into my cuticles, CND cuticle oils and fragrance free lotion; I am seeing healthier nails. However, my cuticles are destroyed. Nothing is helping them and they are so dry, it is painful. You mention Kerasal (sp?) ointment in one of your comments. Is this something you would suggest in conjunction with jojoba oil massaged in several times a day?

Thank you for sharing this client’s journey with us, Anna. I bought Repair Mode after watching this videos and it is fantastic!!!! 🎉 My nails definitely have fewer cracks and there is less peeling at the tips. I’m doing a weekly warm oil soak too, and my nails are looking healthier and are more resilient than they have in months! Does anyone know if Repair Mode can be used as a regular / daily treatment over a longer period of time? I use it for a week then leave it for a while, then use it again. Is this the best way to use it or do the nails benefit from a more regular routine? 🙏🏻 Many thanks to you and your client, Anna, for bringing this product and information to us ❤

I have no experience with OPI treatment, even tho it had my interest piqued. But if i think about clients perspective, to go weekly to the salon to get it applied, it feels so much time consuming. Id go maybe to another route, either every second week in salon, doing treatment with IBX/OPI/Magnetic and at home using multiple times per day a keratin based nail serum ( LCN has one and one what we work with) and this also works fine ( have experience with one of my clients ) .But of-course the client should also do the work and really use the product, not letting it to sit on their cosmetics cabinet , etc. Haven´t watched you videos long time and this popped up in my feed today so gave it a go, since saw you to do the OPI Repair. So thanx for showing it and keep shooting. I try to catch up with your videos also when times quiet down.

Hello there! Thank you for the comment! No, the OPI Repair Mode is not a salon treatment. It's a home treatment that can also be used in the salon. The client is using it at home which I explained and is coming for the manicures so I can make the progress videos to show people how the product works because I was asked so many times what I think about the product. So I figured I will show you and then you can make up your own mind if you think the product is effective or not. IBX is a salon treatment. Somewhat effective too but it needs to be done at the salon so we can't really compare these two. IBX is also UV cured and contains methacrylate so a no-no for anyone with any type of allergies (and so many people are now allergic to acrylates) Magnetic Seal and Protect is a pro only product too. The Safety Data Sheet lists that it contains 25-50% of HEMA which is a bit worrisome. That is a lot. www.magneticnail.se/wp-content/uploads/SDS-130007-Seal-Protect-Solution-logo.pdf

Im loving these progress videos, that’s what convinced me to get the OPI product (and the fact that it’s now available in France). The notice says :on naked nails, twice a day for 6 days, on polished nails, before you apply your nail polish and then once a day on the growth part. I had a question : you mentioned that you were not using regular acetone but cosmetic acetone, do you have a reference? In spite of applying all your advice, my nails are still damaged and I’m thinking using regular acetone might play a part…
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 10 ай бұрын
Acetone will not damage the nails. Even non cosmetic unless you are using some strange paint thinner that is not even acetone. Pure acetone, cosmetic version is just quite pure and it doesn’t have any impurities so it will evaporate completely without any residue on the nails. Nail polish can damage the nails. Not the acetone.

I have been using OPI Nail Repair off and on and it seems to help my nails, but I am realistic about what it will do. I am curious if you have seen the Dermelect nail polishes. They were recommended by a dermatologist and do seem gentle. I don't like them as much as Dazzle Dry, but am trying to use them on days I want polish and do your other nail soak, etc. to give my nails a break.
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 10 ай бұрын
Dermalect polishes have same ingredients like any other polish on the market really. Just because they contain some keratin (which doesn’t really do anything other than sound good) as a pretty much last ingredient doesn’t make it any healthier or better than any other polish. That’s like hoping for a beneficial benefits of beta carotene in carrot cake. It’s still mostly flour and sugar and fat with some carrots. These polishes are 99.9% plastic with some apparently beneficial ingredients. Often some silicone or oil or keratin. It’s better to use just some 100% oil or moisturizer on your hands.
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 10 ай бұрын
Ps. I’m not saying that they are not beautiful. That’s like I’m not saying carrot cake is not a good desert. Polishes are a nice decoration that can contribute to nail surface damage. Just like desert is a nice treat but it’s not really beneficial for our health.

@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 10 ай бұрын
There is no damage. There is peeling which is usually caused by excessive water exposure and detergents. The clients toenails are fine and not peeling. www.aocd.org/page/BrittleSplittingNail "Onychoschizia or splitting of the fingernails is a common problem seen by dermatologists. The term onychoschizia includes splitting, brittle, soft or thin nails. Onychoschizia is more common in women. Only very rarely are internal disease or vitamin deficiencies the reason (iron deficiency is the most common). One tip is that if the fingernails split, but the toenails are strong, then an external factor is the cause. Basically brittle nails can be divided into dry and brittle (too little moisture) and soft and brittle (often too much moisture). The usual cause is repeated wetting and drying of the fingernails. This makes them dry and brittle. This is often worse in low humidity and in the winter (dry heat). The best treatment is to apply lotions containing alpha-hydroxy acids or lanolin containing lotions..."

A few of my nails had started peeling at the free edge and my thumb nails are very ridged and were splitting in spots. I purchased the OPI Repair Mode and used it for one week in addition to my use of oil after each hand wash and weekly warm oil soak. At first I thought it might be improving things, but then I bumped a (fairly short) finger nail not too hard against something and it almost shattered. It broke badly. Later the same day I bumped another finger…again not too hard and had the same result with that nail. I think it made my nails really brittle. I stopped using it and filed my already short nails very short. I have successfully filed off all the peeling from my free edges (though my thumb nails are still problematic) and hope the oil will be enough to keep them healthy.
