Trust me its not just Indians that stuggle with this [i dont mean that rudly btw] i am a white girl with super thick curly hair in a family of straigjt haird people. Curls look pretty , yes we don’t know how to maintain curls as Indians mostly use oil and braid it traditionally. Infact open hair were said to be inviting gesture, a century back at-least. Also we have mundun tradition so we lose baby hair and the hair henceforth have different texture.

If your hair is growing from your head and isn't dyed, it's natural.. Not sure why we started calling curly hair natural but it's annoying
@squirrelsinmykoolaid
@squirrelsinmykoolaid Жыл бұрын
@@emma_luce_0623 If you actually did some research you would know that this term has literally been used since like the 1970s and is specifically used to refer to afro textured hair that is not chemically straightened. Generations of Black people (mainly women and girls) were coerced by society into hating our hair texture so much that we chemically relaxed our hair for decades and the result of that is people are finding out those chemicals cause CANCER but you are annoyed because of the term "natural". Smh. I wish I had the luxury of being annoyed by a word on the internet instead of being afraid that I could develop cancer since my hair was relaxed from the age of 5 years old until high school when I learned that my hair wasnt "supposed" to be straight all thanks to the NATURAL hair community.
@emma_luce_0623
@emma_luce_0623 Жыл бұрын
@@squirrelsinmykoolaid I didn't say I haven't done research, I didn't even mention when the term came to be. I specifically said I don't know why we call curly hair "natural" as though all virgin hair isn't natural. All virgin hair is natural, whether it's curly or straight. You also have no clue as to what my hair type is so I'm not sure why you're speaking to me as though you're better or inferring I don't understand what has happened or what chemical straighteners do.
@jinx526
@jinx526 Жыл бұрын
@@emma_luce_0623 Because its about learning to take of and love the hair as it grows in its natural texture. Especially for black people as the other person mentioned. Other groups of people joined in but the point is the natural curls or coils/kinks that we have and not being ashamed or frustrated with it. It was about reconnecting with being black or just having curly hair for some of us and letting go of beauty standards that do not represent what WE look like NATURALLY. Its not about all virgin hair especially straight hair. The movement wasn't really for everyone. It's was originally focused on woc learning to love themselves as they are and not hurting ourselves to fit in with eurocentric standards. Idk what could possibly be annoying about black and brown people learning our natural features are beautiful and deserves respect too.
@Paula-um3js
@Paula-um3js Жыл бұрын
@@emma_luce_0623 Its called natural because it is left in the way it grows, not straightened manually or chemically. Another person said origins of this word for black people, but tbh any hair that isn't styled to change colour or texture can be called natural. My natural is straight, but wouldn't be natural anymore if i did a perm to chemically alter it. Had a friend doing perms all the time, so her "switching to natural" was just letting the hair be once the last perm uncurled. But because its mainly black people who used straightening due to their natural coily hair not being accepted in the past, you see mainly black or other curly haired people using that term.

You can try by oiling then do shampoo , apply conditioner and then serum and comb your wet hair and leave to air dry. I do this and it has relived my hair. Do use cotton t shirt for drying and not towel. Hope it helps 💖. Also do ask questions If you have any

@bhavyasood776
@bhavyasood776 Жыл бұрын
@LEDart no no dear. First do shampoo then wash it out. Then again put shampoo massage well and leave it for like 1 min and wash rest of your body then rinse it out (since I have oily scalp I do this and I only put shampoo on my scalp not on my hair strands as my curls are dry) then apply conditioner leave it for 2 - 3 mins , rinse it out. Take a cotton t shirt just wipe the water and when it is damp apply serum (don't wait for your hair to dry , apply on damp hair) then after applying serum comb your hair (this will spread the product evenly also I use wide tooth comb) and you are done

It's a surprisingly tough topic for me as, just like you, I disliked my curls and wanted to straighten them. I couldn't because of my strict parents, and so I just endured them until college. It's only then that I realised, that not everyone is blessed with evr ready, bouncy curls and that women spend thousands of rupees for such hair. And at the age of 23, I started losing my hair due to Alopaecia. It's only after losing my hair did I really become grateful for the hair that I now have. Now, almost 3 years later, my curls are back, and I enjoy their weightless brush on my neck and how they bounce about in the wind. Im really grateful for getting my hair back, not many people do. Alhumdulillaah.
