This video is a condensed tribute to a movement(Blue Pilgrims) that started with the objective of changing how the national team is supported in India-across land and sea.
From the heydays of attendance at the U-17 World Cup to empty stadiums in Goa, 200 people singing on one day in Mumbai till the rallying cry of the captain saw 10000 people singing in the next- this is a tribute to those who came, not to conquer but because they must. If not them then who?
This video is a tribute to the little expectations from a first Awayday in Abu Dhabi to great expectations till the 90th minute in Sharjah, from tears of joy to, well the tears of joy, since in this country football generally equals despair, hence little achievement or an attempt to achievement brings great joy. Forever condemned to the life of an unpredictable underdog.
This is a tribute to those who believe in “Hang the banner and sing even if it’s just the two of you and couple of Germans” in the away section in Thailand.
This is a tribute to a movement that changed a city’s footballing landscape and reminded another through beautiful art that the country’s first legend and captain came from its soil.
This is a tribute to the movement that questions not criticises- questions the administration, the police and everyone else that is answerable to those who live by the game and swear by the flag.
This is a tribute to the city that reminded the kcountry that animosity has its days, but the day when the nation takes the field at the Mecca, it is not ‘animosity day’.
This video, albeit a sub-standard reproduction of emotions, is a mark of respect to every woman and man who comes to the stadium to support their national team. May this revolution always be in motion like the winds, the tides and the oceans. Ale! #inquilabeindianfootball
