I am an 81 year old from Devon UK .After watching many of your videos ,it was lovely to hear and feel your youthful inner and outer strengths. and your pioneering free spirits .I have always loved the woods, this is part of a poem I wrote about trees. ''As I sit pensively under their wings, my faith is restored in the balance of things. If I listen to nature and abide by life's laws, and ever be humble let that be my cause. The simple pleasure sitting under a tree, is one of the joys of a spirit that's free.''

About 41 minutes you’re talking about the profound sense of responsibility for yourself- it sounds like you find that empowering. And certainly extremely satisfying that you’ve done it well. As an example, your meals are interesting and varied in a way I wouldn’t have expected from game, home-canned good and bread on a wood stove. I enjoy your channel very much!

Having been born and raised here, I can say we Alaskans actually think differently than people living in the Lower 48, in part, because of the harshness of the conditions and remoteness and those situations you mentioned. We MUST be self sufficient. We PLAN for earthquakes. We HAVE to be prepared. And we ARE responsible for taking our own risks. Like you said, supplies and contractors are hard to get. EVERYTHING must be accomplished in 3-4 months in summer. Many things can not be shipped to Alaska. Things that can, are really expensive. A Harvest Right costs an additional $600.00 shipping here. I love your adventures in Alaska, but people must understand that getting out to get fish and game takes lots of travel and is tough...and THEN the work begins. I've spent 8 hours bent over at the hip butchering a moose. As far as building codes, there actually are codes in the Mat-Su Borough--- you can't actually do 'whatever you want'. I think you guys are so successful because your lifestyle of extensive gardening, storing your food and water, living frugally, being willing to live rustically, fixing things yourself, not having to provide for/or consider needs of children, and doing LOTS and LOTS of hard physical work. Most people can not successfully live here, because it is so hard. Great chat!

Great reality check for any couch potato types imagining themselves in Alaska living the life. The problem with that climate is that if you don't have your ducks in a row by the end of summer, you might not survive to see another one. Or you might have a very tough time till summer rolls around again.

I was going to say they need a Harvest Right freeze dryer for their vegetables...but dang! They are so expensive and to slap ANOTHER $600 on top...geeese. I think a lot of Alaska shows make it look glamorous or dressed up. So I appreciate that they do long videos and real life hard work! I watch anything Alaska so I can learn. I have been practicing self sufficient life style for 15 years and hope someday to have a small homestead in Alaska

I am now 52. But knowing what I know now living in Washington State on property with chickens and living a different lifestyle than in the city, I would have moved further north into Alaska at a way younger age of course. It is a wonderful exhausting day when I am in the garden, shoveling snow, tending to the chickens and just plain helping out with reducing my carbon footprint on the planet.

Certainly an off brand video but I loved it! Several things I’ve always appreciated about your channel: No click bait, never ask to like, sub, bell, etc. you’ve always let the content of the videos be the main attraction and it’s incredibly awesome The variety of videos and activity is great. I’ve never thought the videos were getting boring, the mix is perfect. The ratio of talking and just filming is spot on. As a viewer I’ve always appreciated the short descriptions and chats followed by letting the film roll. This is absolutely my favorite KZbin channel. Thank you for continuing to deliver content. I am vicariously living through both of you awesome people

Same. These are the most genuine people on KZbin, in my opinion 😉They’re so endearing and nice, the way they always say, in my opinion. They don’t tell you what to do, they only suggest. Just a bit of personal thanks here - I respect your choice to share that you both have decided that children are by on your radar, and also it’s a personal decision and you set boundaries around the privacy of that decision. It’s lovely to see a positive representation around personal decisions to not have children. I respect everyone’s decision to have or not have children - and I appreciate the joy having children has brought to my sister in law and other friends. But the choice to not have children doesn’t often have a positive representation so I value it ☺️ and also, in this social media world, the happiness to say you won’t be sharing the why. You both always speak with authenticity. I enjoy the channel because of so much fun you have and what you achieve, but today’s q and a was so enjoyable to just hear your articulation. So thank you both for sharing x

Eric may have had his direct way of getting Ariel to say 'yes', but after this Q&A, I'm positive Ariel had a very 'particular' 'wonanly' way of getting Eric to even think of asking 😉. (Yup, I sat through the entire video and latched on to their every word and thoroughly enjoyed it...something I rarely have the patience doing. But then again, I'd been here since soon after the move from Oregon.)

THIS has been one of the few predominantly 'talk' videos I've sat through without any thought of time or impatience. So engaging for its directness, authenticity, honesty, and sincerity; so openly revealing, sharing, yet self-respecting of one's beliefs, one's choices, one's privacy, without disrespecting or denigrating those of others. I've always enjoyed learning and vicariously living Alaska through you two. But the one thing that has made it singularly worth it was your evident loving chemistry. Absolutely adore you both!

Wow. I just finished watching this entire video. Over two cups of hot chamomile tea, snuggles with my big dogs and cozy cats, while an ice storm has begun here in Indiana. I send you guys so much love and good vibes!! You deserve all great things. You are hard workers and TRUE people. Which in my comments in the past I've mentioned how that's my favorite thing about ya'll. You are you, you don't do any click bait crap and you're not here to come off a certain way. I have followed you guys for at least 5 years now I think, may not have subscribed that long. But watching your journey, I feel like I know ya'll sometimes. And I feel so alone for my age (29) here, your videos give me peace and like someone in the world gets it. I have been going thru some not so great things as of late, and once again in my life possibly venturing out solo with my dogs and cats to live a simple, hard working, wholesome and home grown life. Nature, hardwork, my fur babies, gardening are all the most important things to me. So I am so tuned in listening and watching your beautiful videos. I also am one that chooses to not have children so I relate with you guys there. And when you discussed that you enjoy working hard and that is simple to you, I'm screaming YES!! Ya'll get it, I get it ✌️ I got nothing but so much love for ya. Thank you for this wonderful video. I am so relaxed, and feel like I've read a great book or spent a couple hours chatting with some great friends 🤗 I needed this conversation! Lol! Can't wait for your beautiful summer adventures also, I dream of one day living in a colder place because I value the importance of a quick efficient and gorgeous summer and growing season. One day. And listen if ya'll get a rental going, omg. I'll be one of your first renters! A woman can dream right .. Have a wonderful weekend, stay warm, stay safe, stay cozy 💛

it has been so great watching you two for the last several years. i tuned in about the time you were leaving oregon. i enjoyed your road trip to alaska as well as inside alaska. i had lived there in the 70's and 80's and have regretted leaving ever since. you have been my adventure, eyes, ears, emotion as well as other things. i've been to many of the places you have been. i still have some family in seward. i really, really miss it and you all help me remember the joy and blessing GOD gave me while i lived there. may you all have the joy of the greatest outdoor adventures ever.

What an amazing Q&A guys! Loved every minute of it and “boom it’s out there, no kids” and that should stop your viewers from always asking! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Love your show so so much and please hug your fur babies for me! ❤️🐶🐶🐱❤️

You two area the cutest and the most real people on Utube! I get such joy from watching your videos. From your canning videos to the hunting ones. Love watching you build things from the wood you milled yourselves to watching you cook your meals together. You are always together and seem to love and enjoy being together. I have loved living vicariously through you two! And what is one of my favorite joys is watching you two is the love and respect you have for each other! Thank you for sharing your lives with us each week. I am always looking for your next blog. You are each other's helpmate and it is so refreshing to see and watch. Thank you for being real.

Where one of their guests (I forget his name, but that's kinda his thing.... doing things from an/the animal's perspective) put a camera on their dog AND one of their chickens.... a couple (maybe few) weeks ago.... as I recall. They stuck one on one of the boys too. T'was def. pretty cool. ;-)

Thank you so much for this episode! I discovered your channel probably 6-9 months ago when my wife and I decided we wanted to move our family to a farm in Maine. Your videos have been SUPER SUPER helpful through this process and we are only 2 months away from the big move so this video could not have come at a better time. Even moreso, you two have solidified our decision and you've only added to our excitement. We wish you both the very best and look forward to more of your adventures. Side note, give the pups a high paw for me!

Great Q and A!! My wife and I loved it!! Especially the interruptions catching fish!! Keep doing what you’re doing and how you’re doing it!! We also really love the little random funny skits. The calendars are awesome!! Mostly we love the fact you two are on this path in life that is so much different than when you were younger. We always cheer when you two are successful hunting and fishing because we remember those first videos when you weren’t so successful . The content is perfect, well balanced, and not too much fluff. When you two are working hard it helps us conquer our projects because seeing your complete yours give us the motivation to tackle our projects. Your visual map of completing projects helps us visualize our projects so we can complete ours. The best part of your projects is you completing them and solving them without throwing money at it. Being frugal is rich and it shows skill.

This was soooooo rewarding. Very thorough e&a 🤣. Lots of things got explained just like I see you through all these vids. Most importantly: you keep close to yourselves and what you two want to achieve in life. And the love for each other and your animals and surroundings/nature. It makes it all a real life experience that almost no other channels offer. I thank you for that. I’ve really enjoyed going through your all-in-order-playlist and put a lot of recipe episodes to my favs. I hope you’ll make as many more vids for many years to come and wish you lots of exciting projects and adventures! I’ll tag along!
