There’s a lot of great improvement in this video!! 👍 A couple things I’d suggest about technique though, your playing zones are still super wide, try to get them as tight as you can. One thing you can do is if you have a practice pad tape a quarter or something in the center and just practice playing exercises like stick control and stuff in that quarter. Its REALLY hard at first but even just a little work will get you miles behind the kit. The second thing is make sure the angle that your hitting the drums is as straight up and down as you can get it, it looks like your kinda swiping at the snare with your left hand. It’ll also help your playing zones if you straighten out the angle you hit the drums with, not to mention an improvement in sound Keep up the good work though, your WAY ahead of a lot of people at the 3 year mark 👍👍

I'm subscribing in hopes that I'll be able to follow your journey for years to come... and in hopes that by the end of this video, you haven't already surpassed me entirely. You seem to have figured out some things quicker than I did. Like the “chick” thing drummers do stepping on the hi hat pedal, I didn’t realize that was even a thing until I heard “Poor Tom” by Led Zeppelin. Id wish someone had told me about: 1. Ghost notes 2. Double bass rolls don’t stop for the snare hit. 3. Cymbal bell work makes everything much cooler. 4. Listen to a lot of different music and learn as many different genres as you can, even if you don’t exactly like the music, your drummer brain will start enjoying all kinds of music for the rhythms and drumming alone. 5. Good cymbals make a good drum set sound, you can buy a decent set of shells and tune it with good heads and make it sounds good enough, but cymbals cannot be tuned making them a better investment to improve the over all sound of your drum set. 6. Invest in good hardware! Having to constantly stop mid-drumming to readjust your hardware as it’s constantly scooting away from you, springs are coming lose, hi hat is slowly opening more and more, etc, is an easy fix for how extremely annoying it is. 7. Learn a few rudiments, that’s all drumming actually is at its core, once you get over the limb independence bits, you realize that it’s all just small patterns, pretty much all of which have been discovered and written down for easy consumption and practice. Hope any of that helps Keep it up my dude!

Amazing progress in just 3 years! Your timing is solid. This is fun to watch. I’ve played off and on for almost 20 years, and the only advice I’d give to anyone is to try and find a teacher: Study with them for a while, and then eventually find another one. Take a year or three on your own, then take opportunities to study with someone when your life (and budget) suits. Seriously, do it, at least once, at least for a few months. I guarantee in 10 years, whether you’re still actively playing or it’s something you come back to throughout your life (or even if you don’t), it’s something you’ll never regret and, if you’re like me, probably come to realize it’s the best thing you can possibly do to improve your drumming (beyond the hours you spend behind the kit). You clearly enjoy it, you appear to have a natural aptitude, make the most of it that you possibly can. The better you get, the more fun it becomes. The best way to get better is to study with a master. Nicely done!

Wow, the progress between late 2018 and early 2019 is amazing! Everythin, tuning, grooving, better positioning, mixing velocity and all.

I love these kind of videos more than the top pros playing the most complicated stuff.. this should be an encouragement to any drum students to stick with practicing. Congrats on not just becoming a good drummer, but a good musician

yes thanks for that. most of the ‘hate’ is just people who expected extreme intense heavy metal speedy- whatever you wanna call it. That’s boring. Why can’t progress be about having fun, learning, sounding better, etc etc?
