Halt den Mund - Hold your Mouth (older English had "Hold your tongue" in older English: Halt's Maul is the ruder version) Lass mich in Ruhe - Leave me in Peace (Lass mich alleine / leave me alone) mit Erfolg - with success

I want to share with you my new idea of teaching and learning vocabulary: Often I read or listen to german language, and many words I find kind of familiar, although I have no idea what they mean. Their familiarity to me is due to the fact that they share a root, that I came across before. For example: anfangen, fangen, Gefangenschaft, der Gefangene... they all have something in common in their meaning. You probably could think of more words wit root "fangen" and also explain their meaning at the same time. Once we get feel of German prefixes, like: ge-, an-, auf-..., and suffixes like: -shaft, -ling, -e..., we could almost INSTANTLY learn a lot of words, by learning just one root! We could remember much, much easier! How do like this concept? I love it... Is it possible that you people made a video like that, with family (or families) of words with common root? I encourage everyone out there to use this concept and make videos.

Thank you for correcting your global world-view on how everyone speaks German. Clearly it's going to change from region to region. A person in English would normally say "I wouldn't say that : Say this instead: " It takes more work to provide a solution than to point out mistakes.

Great German philosophers like Goethe & Schiller!? Poets, yes, but there are no great German philosophers anyhow - except for Meister Eckhart & Nicholas of Cusa, they were all insane. Even Leibniz, with his premature baldness & misshapen head, was round the bend and a born liar. I'm learning German to help understand the psychoses.
