We did everything by the book. We were NEVER contacted again by the police, despite the man being identified. Years later, the city admitted that thousands of rape kits were just thrown away. And the questioning from the cops is humiliating, the exam is also traumatizing. Just because SOME people lie doesn't mean the majority lie. And it doesn't look like svu tv show or a weinstein /diddy case. Real life doesn't work that way. So just try and have some compassion for people who have had their entire lives completely destroyed.

I don't understand how a rapped women reports a rape after 10 years or after 1 year Here in Europe you have to get a certificate from a doctor after seeing you and only him can say that you have been raped, in the first 24-48 hours, after the rape. It takes so much courage to come forward. Just going to the hospital, so they can collect evidence, is so traumatic. It's like being violated all over again. Having to repeat what happened, over and over again, is also traumatic. If you are fortunate, the hospital will have a nurse or doctor, specifically trained to help victims. If you're lucky, the cops who interview you, at the hospital, will be kind. Then you immediately get asked if you want to press charges. A lot of women are not ready to make that decision, immediately after. Our whole justice system, is set up for the benefit of the sexual predators, not the victims. It is disgraceful to listen to someone, with a public platform, make it sound like it's less important than the fact that these monsters made some sketchy real estate deal, for hundreds of millions of dollars.
