I'm 40 and I have never owned a riding mower. I've done my fair share of work on vehicles but don't know the first thing about riding lawn mowers. This video is super helpful as I have the exact model of mower. I've got floor jacks for cars, a transmission jack, bottle jacks, etc, and several good tree stumps so hopefully I can get it in a safe spot for me to do this procedure. Next for me to learn is how to wash the deck....I see the hose fitting on it, lol. Thanks again.

Very smart using a chain lift and lifting the rear of the mower where most of the weight is. How did you get it up on that work bench table?

Great video. Other videos have you take off the deck, not needed here. Also, you took off the belt cover and keeped it off to put the belt around the engine pulley FIRST , then around the blade pulley, putting the cover AFTER that. Other videos showed putting the belt around the blade pulley, putting on the belt cover, then struggling to put the belt around the engine pully. Your way gives way more space and room to do belt replacement quickly and easily. Thanks. Have the same mower. Recently the thing has really lost power. I have replaced, upper trans belt, deck belt, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the carb. New blade. Any insight on where my loss of power could be coming from? 6th gear feels like 2nd.

Thanks for this, It helped me see how I will be inspecting the belts and pulleys. My system stalls as soon as I lower the blade. Had a bent blade so I replaced it but it still stalls when lowering. I by-passed the switch with snap tie and the blade worked fine and the engine stayed on, it is only when utilizing the switch as intended, it stalls. I wonder why it is doing that?

Thanks for the help! Got my mower fixed. Question for you. I had to add a manual valve to my gas line going to the carburetor. Is there a better was to prevent the gas from getting into the oil when the mower is just sitting? The valve works fine, just seems weird I had to add something that wasn’t from the manufacturer.

Your carburetor needs replaced its leaking from the needle seat. Fuel valve is a bandaid for the actual problem but will work if you remember to turn it off every time.

Great video!! Consider a 3M Ryman notched belt & HD dressing ( I know, but a little dab' lol do ya? Quiet, smooth & lasts & lasts. Since 1994 on my 90 , 2 belts & lathe center lube on the bearings & engagement! 😉😀 , Working on the CLU-BRAKE0 ADJUST " to keep the front wheels down & my teeth fillings in? Any idea's 🙏 you've tried? Updated fuel to filters, "T" connectors & a dump valve ( Amazon kit) braided line & I can dump that " moonshine fuel & water" stabill it & go another year? That $23.00 a gallon can gas is obscene ( purt pumps are 70 miles a way & my friend at the airport retired , so no 135 pure octane to mix for a while. ( Got some at EAA this year 4 next but then : BIDUMB corrosives? Yet still a good tube👍

The fittings are probably clogged with dirt

They are not actually grease fittings. They are just solid plastic knobs that look like grease fittings. I did the same thing a while back but after installing 2 new tires found them not to be zerk fittings at all.

I ordered a PTO Cable and it came with only one spring. My PTO Cable came with 2 springs like the one in your video. The new PTO Cable stated it replaces the old one, but the new one doesn’t work or have enough tension. Thanks for any advice. I have the same riding lawnmower.

I just put a new blade on (used a 1/2 impact so I know it’s tight) and I’m sure it wasn’t in the exact spot on the star as the old one. Now I noticed (it could have been there before) a fluttering noise when the blade is engaged. It cuts great but I’m wondering if it’s a belt or bearing/pully issue, or if that noise is normal. The mower is about two years old, stored in a shed and only mows a 1/2 acre lot. Thoughts? And is there any PM that can be performed on the bearings?

The video is helpful but what if the belt is broken and not routed properly, can you show us how to fix our mower when the belt is gone or completely shredded? I have issues that your video didn’t help me with. Like the black lever you say goes up in the frame, mine has a spring and I see the spring on the one you’re working on, my spring isn’t connected to anything and luckily I see yours is mounted under the arm so I’ll see if I can mount mine like I see in this video, but that lever is connected to a pulley and that is also connected to a black piece of metal that has a rubber guide that rides inside the pulley for the blade, when I route the new belt like I see you do in the video the belt contacts that guide and it damaged my new bell I installed myself without seeing any video of on you tube. I fix cars so I figure I can replace a mowers belt, but I didn’t see that guide and didn’t know it was shredding my new belt until it shredded it. I’m getting my new belt today from Amazon so hopefully I’ll be cutting grass again soon. But I sure wish the video would show what to do if the belts failed, not a preventive maintenance video.

Okay my belt just arrived and I installed it no problem and yes this video helped out greatly. I think my mistake on the first install was not making sure the spring the goes under black lever of the tensioner was installed correctly and it caused the tensioner pulley to be in a downward position and by that happening the belt was twisted and getting shredded. Thanks for the video. Now I need one that shows how to adjust the carburetor if there is any adjustments available.

my question is how can you raise/lower the cutting deck? Searches don't give me any help. My mower is set on the highest setting "level 5" but is still too close cutting, and setting 4 willl scalp and bog down the engine. I could use a 6 and 7 ! It seems the only adjustment is a hex nut facing forward to slightly raise the front of the deck. Any help out there?

no the belt he is replacing runs the blade. there's a different belt that runs the diff that powers the lawnmower

I have the same mower... I recently ran into the problem where the engine dies when I engage the blades. It deos die immediatly. It will slowly putter for minutes before it either revs up and gfoes or just sputters out and dies. Once it dies I cannot start it again. Usually it will take a day before I can get it to start and when it does white smoke goes out of the exhaust. Its not the safety switch as I already had that. Any idea what that might be? I would like to know where to start looking on my own.

Sounds like leaking fuel in the oil. Check oil see if smells like fuel.

Sounds like the safety switch on the side discharge check to make sure it's being pressed all the way.

Hey man, great vid. Subbed. Can you PLEASE help me, that little tensioner bar with the black like plastic end on it, the bar that is attached to the idler pulley, that somehow sheered off in half and I can't find the part anywhere or exact name of it. It's the chrome bar like 6 inches approx long with a 2 to 3 inch like black plastic/hard rubber end with 1 screw and thr very end of it bends in and sticks into the idler bracket, the black end sits against the mower I think. You know what I'm talking about I'm sure. I have to get this mower working asap, thanks a ton man!
