This is so beautiful. Back in grade 9 (2010), I joined an amazing church that had one of their branches at our school, and one of the things we were told to do was to stop listening to secular music, being young and excited about the things of God, I proceeded to delete every song on my phone. 😅 That was the beginning of listening to songs that truly reflect the gospel, who God really is, and not just a slow song that has God in it. And more so, the intimacy that comes with it. I began being so intentional about what I listen to even if it is titled "Gospel". My life has never been the same since ❤

Seriously I’m praying that God will reveal to me what He would like me to fast during this challenge. I gave up secular music a couple years ago and I know I can’t listen to any of it personally because it triggers past memories that aren’t aligned with my walk with Jesus and I’m trying to lean in to God in a new way plus I know I need to fast and pray for the next 30 days. I have even got my kids joining this fast with music and video games I told them to try it for a week my kids are 7 and 4 my 4 yr old doesn’t really understand and wants no part in it but my 7 yr old has accepted and she has a few days left I want to take it a step further and let go of KZbin to even if I only watch Christian podcast and Christian content creators at the end of this month it’s exactly 1 week before my 39th birthday on June 6 I want to end this month and go into this new year of life pressing into Jesus in ways I have done before so I think I’m going to give up everything and just read my Bible for this last week I’m attending my first women’s conference June 3 please keep me in your prayers for the Holy Spirit to strengthen my inner man that I may surrender anything that is in the way of getting closer to Jesus I want everything that isn’t allowing me to fully surrender,to fully trust that only he can teach me how to seek him how to walk talk and fellowship with him, I pray anything that stands in the way of intimacy with my Lord Jesus is revealed and that he will give me the strength and grace to let it all go so I can pick up my cross and follow him like never before. I also pray for everyone who is also participating in this fast Lord give them strength empower them to earnestly seek you with persistence Lord Jesus u are the way the truth and the life you are king of kings and there is nothing to ig or small for you guide your ppl father reveal yourself to them in a way that they don’t even expect guide them in ways only you can do show them how you know each one of them by name and as long as we have breath in our lungs you won’t stop working in each of their lives in mighty way how everything works for those who love you according to your purpose for us all may u bless the with wisdom insight and understanding fill them with your grace Lord bless their families bless their businesses and their relationships with you as well as with others Lord you say that when 2 or 3 come together you are there so I stand in alignment with them let me serve as a sister for them praying for each one of your children as well as praying with them in your name Jesus May you be glorified in every way possible thank you for loving us so much you gave your life for us thank you for allowing Jackie and Tim to challenge us with this fast and for giving them the grace and anointing to speak and impact the lives of so many thank you for the time and energy they take to pour into our lives I pray they may be refreshed in every way possible thank you Father because I know you are good for it in the name of your son my Lord and theirs in the name of Jesus Amen

This is a good challenge. I stopped listening to secular music on my own about 4 months ago after I realized how the lyrics were impacting me. The lyrics burn into your brain whether you are actively listening to them or not. I started listening to only Christian music and it has been life changing for me. I realize there are times when I do not have control over the music that is playing. Such is the case at work, a store, etc. We can't control everything, and that's okay! However, if I am actively searching for music to listen too it will be uplifting to God from now on.

At the beginning of lockdown I finally got rid of all my secular music. I realise I needed my ear gates to be clean to hear the most high better. I can no longer sing along to any , even if I am out and about, I cannot, nor do I want to, nor go clubbing. It's not just the lyrics, it's the music itself. Plus the lifestyles these people lead. They are plugged into demonic frequencies that afflict our atmosphere. We need to stay plugged into the Ruach Hakodesh. We need to be Holy as our ABBA Yah is Holy.

I cut out all secular music last year and have had no desire to bring it back into my ears. "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Secular music and entertainment of any kind is clearly flooding people's minds with messaging and lifestyles that Jesus does NOT want for us. Fill your mind with the Word of God. There is SO much amazing worship music out there these days...Bethel, Elevation, Hillsong...start with those groups and you'll find a huge list of artists you can then explore their libraries. Incredible idea for the challenge!

It’s been over 5 years since I’ve listened to secular music. Music is very influential and I love it but that type of music wasn’t good for me personally. Honestly music is good for the soul. God knows music makes me happy and it’s not gospel/worship. If I didn’t have music I wouldn’t be happy. I think the real music we need to try to stay away from is the more modern day music. And you’ll know when the music has bad/dark energy. Otherwise I don’t think God will be mad because you are listening to “secular” music. In fact when I listen to music I feel refreshed and closer to God because of it. I mainly listen to music from the 90’s and before that time

Because of the sacrifice on the cross we have grace and mercy to pray without offering a sacrifice or having a priest to intercede for us. Through Jesus, he intercedes for us every day of our life. Can I ask a question about this? I love so many different music genres. What if you listen to rare Grooves and House music? soul music? Jazz music Like the music I listen to doesn’t necessarily have profanity or derogatory lyrics. House Music in particular is just beats. Yes! I accepted the challenge and started out with songs I knew and then switched over to Lecrae and bizzle and I've been on it ever since .. 🤣🤣... Well today let me just be clear I started around midnight last night.. it was my birthday I'm a night owl don't judge me 🤣😵‍💫... And I only slipped up once and told my Alexa to play something secular so far. HOWEVERRRR all the songs I know and have known my whole life or now stuck in my head and I'm humming .. I don't know how to balance it.
