First of all to anyone reading this comment, please don't stress about IGCSE. At this point I really recommend ditching note taking because firstly It's too time consuming, second of all it's just really ineffective. Just anyone doing Edexcel Maths and Sciences, just go either save my exams or physics and math tutor for summary notes (It's a godsend trust me). Then start to read through the information and them memorize it. (Personally I cover up the information and write down what I can remember), then do past year papers after that to help reinforce and consolidate your memory. Remember It's never too late to start and stay hopeful. Good luck!

These videos make me feel really guilty haha. I’m currently on a gap year after sixth form and I’m constantly regretting how I revised for my GCSEs. I barely revised, often watching movies the night before exams, and so I left with 4s, 5s, 6s and a 7, but I know for a fact that I was a grade 9 student who never put the effort (as became apparent with my high A level grades when I DID put in the effort). do a past paper, go through the mark scheme and find where you’re losing marks. write down as much as you remember from that topic and then go in with a different colour to add extra info that you’ve missed by watching a video, going through the essential notes in a revision guide etc. if it’s a subject like english, history, media etc where there’s no black and white answer, do 25 minute chunks of just blurting all the knowledge on a mindmap and going back in to add more vital info after watching a video on a specific theme or topic

I know a lot of students are feeling this way! It's completely natural and having so many subjects is the most difficult aspect of GCSEs. My advice would be to try to stay as present as possible and only focus on oner subject at a time. The best way to do this is to come up with a revision timetable which makes sure that you revise each subject at least once a week. That way you can revise for one subject without worrying about the fact you're not revising for the others. Good luck! 😁📊

GCSE's were easy when looking back on it, completed my a levels last year and found that a lot more work was needed for 3 subjects than the 9 i had in GCSE. In yr 10 i was getting 4-5 on every subject on the end of year exams. It was until 1 week before yr11 started i began to get worried about the work load and the pressure of exams. Spent Sep-Nov doing 3 hours every night, 1HR when i get home, 2HRs after dinner. I caught up will everything in time for the mocks which were in JAN and still felt worried that i wouldnt do well, instead a didnt get a grade below 7, mostly 8s. I found that a burn out didnt come from over studying, instead it came from being scared of failing and constantly thinking of "WHAT IF" i fail,dont do well etc.... I was so scared when i had my GCSEs. I used to get really bad grades and even failed the first mock. a month before my exams I gave myself a pep talk and studied until I couldn't see straight (not recommended but you do what you gotta do) and I ended up getting 9s in five subjects and a 7 in one. It was worth it.

@@juventusfan4873 I studied until i dropped dead. simple. there wasn't a shortcut, no easy way out. Yes, i cried and bitched about it but in the end the result was worth it. Also, i used resources like SaveMyExams and did so many past papers that by the time the exam rolled around, I'd done almost all of them, and a few of the papers 2x!

Anyway thanks for this vid, it’s already motivated me I don’t know why schools don’t give us tips like this

Good luck guys! Yes that sounds like a good plan to me. Get on those past papers as quickly as you can would be my advice. They're not only good for testing what you know but also for learning new things (when you mark them). They really are the golden bullet in my experience! 📊

just found your channel after searching for reassurance... I always get 5s and 4s in science and my grades for maths dropped. Grades = my self-worth; tbh I was looking forward to year 11 but a lot of external things happened to me this year and I'm just as glad to start a fresh academic year and leave this one behind. I was scared and embarrassed to achieve low grades, I have extrinsic motivations but I will try to fall in love with learning to make it more enjoyable. thank you this video actually helped me a lot.

Just be aware that for sixth form focus on the subjects you wish to take on the most. Don’t stress about getting 8s and 9s on subjects you don’t wish to pursue in the future. Sixth forms don’t care about that unless the one you want to apply to makes it absolutely clear you need to get these grades in this and that it’s not important. When they say you need a 7 in all sciences they mean the science you wish to takes final grade should be a 7 or above. Also be aware if you’re unsure on whether to go to sixth form or college, I suggest you go to a sixth form first and then if you don’t like it you can always leave and apply to a college. The other way around would be basically impossible. Also when picking a sixth form don’t go to one your friends are unless that’s just an extra pro and your super tight with them. There’s are huge possibility they will ditch you. Any other questions. You can ask and I’ll answer them.

I’m going to a hard school so I need to get at least 7s in everything but mostly 8-9s
@beccaa7638 Жыл бұрын
@@shrekstur yes with competitive schools like Brampton for example getting 7’s and above for all your academic would put your in a better spot sure to its competitivity and those grades you have will determine if you will be prioritised in terms of availability of subjects in the school. But just so you’re aware sixth forms like that have high graduation grade rates due to the students work ethics not because their facilities or teachers are any better than any other school if you fill a school with High achieving resilient students only you will come out work high achieving resilient grades. Regardless it’s good you are putting yourself in a position where you aim as high as you can. Those high Gcse grades will benefit you for other opportunities in like eg applying for jobs/ going on for a degree apprenticeship so on

please just enjoy the time you have now, there's no need to start stressing this early. year 9 is the last year you have before the difficulty ramps up, it's useful to know what you're going into but please don't panic. making sure you pay attention and take notes in class is all you need to focus on at the moment. tbh I was nervous in year 9 too, especially after seeing how stressed my sister got when she did her gcses but to be honest, once you're there it just becomes part of the reality. there's not so much of the 'oh my goddd this is such a huge dealllll what do I dooooo' and it's more just putting your head down and getting on with it. and really, gcses don't matter much except for getting into the sixth form/college you want, not many unis really take into account your gcses, its the a levels/equivalent that are the real deal. so yeah I guess what I'm trying to say is try not to stress, enjoy yourself, and remember its not as big of a deal as schools make it out to be.

hi! i would definitely say that ib is quite challenging!! it is compulsory for my school to take the ib AHAH (basically on top of the 6 subjects you pick which must include maths, english lit/lang lit, 1 science, 1 humanity + music/science/humanity) you need to write a 4000 word essay and do TOK (theory of knowledge)!!
