I've had my pc since early March. It completely changed my life in gaming. I have always been a console guy, and going from that to pc was mind-blowing. I have been really enjoying the freedom. I can play Cyberpunk 2077 maxed out on pc. Add mods. I've been playing Stalker 2 recently, and it has been a blast. I still love my consoles, but having the freedom to play whatever I want on pc is really cool. Game on gamers. Be good to each other out there.

I grew up with Nintendo stuff. Back during the whole melee tournament during lock down that Nintendo blocked while having that splatoon tourny was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I haven't touched a Nintendo product since. I canceled all of my preorders, metroid prime 4 hurt the most out of those. I couldn't be happier about the decision though as they've become more and more anti consumer and throwing their lawyers at everything. But then again, I was a PC gamer since the early 00's, so it wasn't too much of a burden for me. I don't even pirate their games. I even thought about grabbing a ps5 just for Unicorn Chronicles since I'm a vanillaware fan instead of just picking up a copy for the switch. Edit: Also for the PC gaming part. I usually sell my friends on it by telling them to go to a PC recycling center, pick up a used office PC from a year or two ago, and throw in a budget GPU from AMD. For around the same price you'd pay for a PS5 you'll be getting a far better experience. You get... -mod support -no online fees for multiplayer -a fucking PC -Steam Sales -Your backlog will still be playable for decades, for the most part. -higher FPS. Sure you won't be doing 4k ultra settings that way but smooth 60fps at 1080p shouldn't be that hard to get at decent settings. Plus if you build your own PC or get a friend who knows how to help, it becomes your baby. No two custom PCs are alike. From hardware to software, your PC will be an expression of you. It's like tricking out your car. Bonus: I convinced my friend to go PC instead of a PS5 for CoD. He dropped like 3 grand on it and said he couldn't go back after booting it up. It was like seeing the Danny Devito "I get it" meme in real life. I don't think handheld gaming will be the way to go. I don't think it'll go away, I just think it'll be like how laptops are, where both cater to their own crowd and both have their pros and cons. I know I'm going to hate the day when I can't tinker with my hardware. Where when something fails I just have to chuck it and get a new one instead of replacing the failed piece. And for me, that's a huge point of PC.

What would you do if Nintendo released a cool and unique physical copy of Final Fantasy or some other 3rd party game? You can't do physical on your PC or Steam deck and a physical copy with nice artwork of your favorite game would be cool to look at, display, and physically be able to handle. In the same way, you find value and experience in playing a vinyl record instead of just streaming a song from your phone.

Great to see you back, Julien. Four months back, I wasn’t sure what you wanted to do? You wanted to go full Nintendo / retro on us. Then two months later, you returned and went back to the norm. You got back the viewers you lost. I realized that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will never come to the Steam Deck. It will come to Steam by 2026 but it will be practically unplayable on the Steam Deck because the Deck would be too underpowered. The base PS5 already has issues playing it. PS5 Pro is the best way to play it. The cheapest and only practical way of playing FF7 Rebirth is through a PlayStation Portal. Because even a ROG Ally X or Legion Go is only on par to the base PS5. The minimum requirements for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are too high for the Steam Deck to handle. Even if Nintendo comes out with their Switch 2 which is rumored to be on par to a Steam Deck and PS4, games like Great Circle, FF16, and FF7 Rebirth would be too much for the Switch 2 to handle. I need a PS5 Pro badly. I only want to play Rebirth and the third game for the FF7 remakes. I don’t care for any other franchise except Final Fantasy VII.

What I like about pc is that you can play games that had never received 60fps update in like 60 or even more. Also with mouse and keyboard you can have much better control in first person shooters or even third person shooters. But with this new games shader compilation and bad optimizations kinda pushing me back to consoles.

Prebuilds are actually nice. I got one recently around Black Friday on sale and when you spec it for parts I saved 1100 dollars and a lot of work by going that route
@baronvonslambert4 күн бұрын
I walked into BestBuy and bought a prebuilt during the heights of the mining boom for almost $300 below what just the GPU in it was going for at the time. I replaced the single channel RAM with a dual channel kit so the Ryzen wasn't gimped, an extra front case fan because it can get above 85F ambient where I'm at, and it served me problem free for five years.

If you are having any issues with your shaders loading in games ( and you eventually will if not already ) you might want to check to see what your ring ratio is set to in your bios for your cpu and refer to google to see what a stable ring ratio is for your cpu. Trust me it is a lifesaver to know this one bit of information. I struggled for years with this issue and just this year figured out what was causing it. some motherboards auto settings are not correct for your cpu OC

I think we’re getting to the point where only enthusiasts and content creators will have desktop PCs. We’re not there, but it feels like the direction. I know if I wasn’t a streamer I’d use my Steamdeck as my main PC.

Mmm, I see how you could think thats what I meant. I was referring to streaming content to you console to watch play… not streaming to the public to watch you. @@Made_SoWell do you mean like watching a stream on twitch? I’m not really sure how opening the twitch app on console is any different from opening your browser and clicking on twitch. It’s about the same, I’d even say it’s easier on pc because of the mouse. It’s faster and more efficient

You keep bringing up the PS5 Pro as if it were the base console. It doesn't represent even 10% of PS5 owners, most of them have the regular disc drive PS5. The PS5 Pro didn't make you switch to PC, your growing library on your Steam Deck did. Which is literally why Valve made it lol. Add in the fact your becoming a streamer, and of course you'd make the jump to PC. But the average person will get more value out a of base PS5... 🤷
