Okay, just in case somebody else needs to this: I think laravel/tailwindcss is not (or no longer) configured to generate the required css to style the pagination auto-magically. After running: php artisan vendor:publish --tag=laravel-pagination (3:58) they got styled. I hope this helps someone who got stuck too.
