I didn't know you or your channel before and I saw this video on my feed. It was definitely one of the best videos I've seen in a while and I'm shocked that it doesn't have a couple hundred thousand views. The overall quality, the work put in, your honesty, believability - 10/10. It was refreshing to watch something that actually feels real and relatable instead of multi-million channels that do challenges that seem fake/organized. Thank you for sharing your story. Subbed and awaiting next videos. Best wishes from Poland, buddy!

Thank you for the honesty around your debt Matt, I am struggling with paying off my credit card and overdraft as well, it's a difficult but necessary task. PLEASE tell me that Tays narration is a Stanley Parable reference! Keep up the long form videos, they're fantastic. Looking forward to seeing another one next week ;)
@MattMort8 ай бұрын
Ah, I haven't heard Stanley Parable in a while! It is not! It's a reference to the movie (500) Days of Summer :) Wish I could give some advice on the debt, but clearly I'm in no place to give advice. Just gotta take it day by day. Honestly though, editing this video made me really focus on all the areas that I didn't need to spend money or could have spent more time making money. Good to be aware of your spending habits & where your money is going on a regular basis (and remove any emotion from purchases as often as possible, it typically results in buying out of convenience or short-term joy over financial logic).

Very interesting and brave that you are documenting your journey and opening up on your debt and repaying process. And having lots of fun and learning experience along the way. At one point before 2005 I owed more than $13K. Learned to reduce my expenses to live off 1/2 of my earnings each month and apply the 2nd paycheck to paying off the debt. Also starting to sell at eBay so that help bring extra money in. Wish you a quick journey to getting back to black.

Find a 0% balance transfer card with a few months of 0% interest. 11% is still an INSANE amount to be paying. A personal loan should have a lower rate than that. Also, it might be time to not touch credit cards for awhile, or use them like debit cards. Launching a Patreon is fine, but realistically thst will not be a huge source of income for awhile. It seems like you have lots of good connections in the KZbin space, use those to get more gig work, get your high interest debt down! You talk about hunkering down to pay off the debt faster but wanting to have a life. There is a balance to this, it doesnt need to be one or the other. I come back to check this channel every few months, and i hope the next video will be showing some good progress forward.
@SavingForThree8 ай бұрын
Yes. Have to eliminate fun for a little bit and meal prep/cook. I don't think I seen you cook one meal. Lol all good, many people don't cook. Maybe a meal service? No idea if it'll help but then you can just heat it up the food and continue to work on ideas to pay off debt instead of taking time so much time in the kitchen to cook. Maybe prep sandwiches for lunch at least, you know? But You got this! I literally paid off one credit card today. 😊
@MattMort8 ай бұрын
haha that's true, I didn't include any cooking in this video! I did have a few days that I DID cook, but I cut those out for time & flow of the story. I need to get more comfortable in the kitchen & cook some good meals more often. Food delivery was dang expensive, so I'm definitely on the side of home-cooked meals over eating out. (I say that as I just bought a burrito for dinner.... it's my first time eating out in a while, but I shouldn't have done it..) And woah! CONGRATS on paying off your credit card! That's amazing :) Mind sharing a bit about how you paid it off?

100 points to the first person that can name the person I got to narrate the intro!
I loved this video but it stressed me out at the same time hhaha. For gigs, you shouldn't charge hourly, charge project based so you can optimize your time! And why don't you get a job? I guess you've probably heard that one before 🙈
@MattMort8 ай бұрын
Yeah I have heard it before lol, I've been looking into jobs, but they've been minimum wage jobs, going to start looking for a consistent Part-Time job around video-making or something. Yeah I think I should move to a flat rate for some projects. I just find it tough to know exactly how long an edit will take me if I haven't worked with a certain client before, so I like doing hourly for the first one- BUT I could still have a general flat rate as my "going rate" so if it happens to take me less time, great, but if it takes me more- it's on me to learn for next time. If you know of any jobs let me know!
