I realize your cruise was last year but just a bit of info for those searching for cruise tips. -1- yes you can carry those bottles of detergent and fabric softner. -2- rather than bother with detergent I will pour some of the on board soap (from the cabin bathroom), on some of the clothes to be washed and proceed to do laundry. Of course I often just wash items when i shower - drop items on the shower floor and 'agitate' everything by marching-in-place. Fabric softener I pour into empty RX bottles and add to rinse water. Then I dispose of the bottles. When traveling by car I just break a bot of the soap off from the hotel supply and toss that in the washer. -3- also from $ Tree I purchase the clip-on auto air vent air fresheners and clip them on a bathroom vent and one in the stateroom. There's usually 6 or more to a pack. You can use the same ones in your hotel to-&-from the ship, just return them to a zip-top bag. -4- also from $ Tree - ponchos! I buy the 3 for a dollar packages. I usually saw ponchos on the ship and in cruise ports for at least $5 each. I actually keep ponchos in the tote in my car at all times - very handy. -5- not available at $ Tree but I consider it priceless. NuSkin aka Liquid Bandage. I cut my foot as we boarded a ship. Staff made a big production of hovering. I cleaned it with alcohol, applied Liquid Bandage (I prefer CVS brand since I regularly receive coupons via the in-store kiosk), told them I wanted a pair of flip-flops and I would sign an agreement to not pursue any remuneration. They were shocked! (I admit we did receive several pairs of sandals, fruit baskets, champagne, onboard credits, etc.) But I was able to go into the water, walk in sand, etc - no issues whatsoever. I suggest placing the bottle in a small zip-top bag. Mine has not ever leaked but I know people that experienced a nasty mess. -6- a box of $ Tree zip top bags. -7- a small bottle of hand sanitizer with a clip to attach it to a backpack or tote strap. (You can purchase a smaller 3pk for the same price. Those do not attach to a bag.) -8- lip moisturizer. 2 or 3 packs via $ Tree. Wind and sun can quickly lead to chapped lips. -9- eye drops. A small container from $ Tree is a perfect travel size. -10- moisturizing body lotion. 10 oz Dermasil from Dollar Tree is ideal for my needs. Again, wind and sun and salt can quickly cause dry skin. I fill an empty RX bottle to take off the ship with me, refill as needed. For those that fly to-&-from the cruise they can pack several empty RX bottles. -11- saline nasal spray. 1.5 oz Sheffield brand via $ Tree. -12- not always easy to find but I stock-up on $ Tree compact umbrellas and stuff 2 or 3 in my luggage. -13- cough drops. As you stated, medical items are always pricey on the ships. I keep 2 packages from $ Tree in my cruise stash. -14- I drink coffee or hot tea. I always have a $ Tree travel mug with me when I cruise. Not fancy but it certainly is a treat for me. The 'cups' of coffee they offer are a joke, IMO. Plus I sometimes prefer a flavored tea or other item that I can bring with me. I use the hot water on the Lido deck and make my own instant cappuccino. A much smaller serving was $13 a 'tiny' cup on my last cruise.

I always bring some Clorox or lysol type wipes. I wipe down the room as soon as we get there. The handles, all the surface tops, shower, the phone. The Stewards do a great job of cleaning, but they have a very quick turn around. I want to make sure that my room is as germ free as possible. No point in sanitizing your hands all over the place, and then come to your room,and picking up lots of germs.

I do the same thing on the cruise and in hotel rooms!! They sell the Wet Ones anti-baterial wipes in the "The Big Ones" size and individual packages so you can take them onshore easier.

Great point, but lysol doesn't kill the Novovirus that is common on cruises though. Clorox can, except it depends on the product type. Helpful Hint: Be sure to get wipes that specifically kill the Novo & other viruses/bacteria (the package will tell you). Also, pay attention to contact time (the length of time the area needs to be wet to effectively kill the intended). Shorter contact times are best (2 minutes or less). Most surfaces wiped with wipes dry in 2 or less, therefore, if contact time is 5 or 10 minutes, you will have to keep reapplying to maintain moisture until that time requirement is met. #GoodToKnow

I was a manager of Dollartree for several years. Just want to let you know that sunblock DO NOT USE!!! There has been several lawsuits not sure how they are still able to sell it, but it has given people rashes that turned for the worse. It is not true SPF as well. Just wanted anyone that may want to buy it to know I had several customers come back to me with several different cases that went back. I took it off the shelf. Other than that love your other items.. Loved shopping in my store for cruise items!

I pick up a rack that hangs on the showerhead to hold shampoo, razor, shower gel, etc ... and an over door cloth shoe holder to go over bathroom door to hold "stuff" meds, cough drops, sunscreen.. saves counter and drawer space

If you play bingo onboard the SHIP, Dollar Tree has the liquid bingo markers, as well. The first time I played, the SHIP charged $3.50 for one. Thanks for all of the other wonderful ideas!

Very nice presentation and great ideas. Another tip is to save the nice zippered bags that sheets and pillow cases come in. I have used them so many times. My husband & I are off to an Hawaiian Island cruise next week for our 55th anniversary and my 75th birthday. Can't wait.

I guess KZbin is realizing I’m obsessed with cruising. I subscribed. Never thought to get the power strip at the dollar tree. Will pick one up since mine died. Great list. One other thing I get at the dollar tree are zip ties to lock close my luggage on the final night of the cruise. This way if customs needs to get in they still can cut it off ( instead of my expensive lock) and it deters mosey kids or potential thieves while the luggage is sitting outside your door.

I went of a cruise with two friends for six days with carnival. We shared a room and I luckily thought of buying the bringing poo pourri. It's a spray you use before going number 2 and it covers the smell. Very handy especially in a state room with three people.

Kay Sandel just got off the Carnival Elation and saw hand sanitizer NOPLACE , so, it must depend on their ships. Just 3 weeks till we sail on the Disney Dream again. I know that there is hand wipes EVERYWHERE there. They hand everyone a white before you enter any food service area!! 😀

Carabiners! Always take carabiners. I like the large leakproof cups with some sort of handle and you can attach them to your bag.

You are so right about taking your own cough medication along. A couple of cruises ago I wanted some Robitussin and the ship wanted $16.00 for a small bottle. I didn't pay their price and sure wished I had taken my Dollar Tree generic along. For laundry supplies I take fabric softener sheets and a couple of laundry pods along. I like the Arm & Hammer brand as they are not liquid. Both the pods and the fabric softener sheets will fit into a sandwich baggie.

Won't get all of these at dollar tree, but they are good suggestions nonetheless. *Plastic utensils* (they use metal, so if you are carrying food back to the rm w/o them, you have plastic as a backup). *Paper towel Roll* They only provide tissue, or toilet paper in the rm *Extra pair of glasses/contacts/hearing aids/etc.* I can't see worth a damn w/o glasses, & if my only pair broke, got lost, or more extreme- fell off my face overboard.....yeah, cruise ruined. *Download a sleep app* that doesn't require internet BEFORE boarding. If it's your thing....🤷. I need rain sounds to sleep, and would have been up shit's creek if i had forgotten that i wouldn't be able to play them from my KZbin playlist) If needed, *a travel humidifier, & mini fan* are useful. *Wine opener!* Otherwise you have to wait & have them do it at dinner. *Copies of all your identifying records & Important numbers* Like license, birth certificate, passport, cruise ticket, bank #, insurance #, family #, #'s to reach relevant govt assistance in your home country, etc. Just in case the worst happens, you have copies that may rescue you, or at the very least help to initiate & expedite the process. Take them w/ you if you leave the ship.

I take pictures of all the documents, before I put them in the safe. If for any reason they take your documents when you board, make note of the name of the person who took them. We had an issue with customs the day before disembarking. Our daughter was adopted from Canada, so they kept just her documents. Someone misplaced a document, and they said we could get off the ship. I took a picture of the gal with her name tag, holding the documents. It took a bit, but the figured it out!!

I buy wrinkle releaser. Dollar Tree doesn't have it, but Dollar General does. Since you can't use a travel iron on the ship, this is great to get your wrinkles out.

Great Video - saw it in late November. Have been on 20+ cruises and never thought of the magnets. On 2 cruises last December, I brought several magnets and used them for invitations and notices. I don't know of any Dollar Stores, so purchased magnets from Staples. Great help! Also a tip, use the closet hangers with clips to fasten the cabin drapes closed tight so sun will not wake you in morning. The draperies never seam to close completely by themselves. i also used the clips i learned from your video. Great Work and THANK YOU!

Another tip if you’re really trying to save money; take a lightweight insulated beach bag for excursions and first fill it with sandwiches, fruit etc from the Lido buffet. Food is free on the ship but expensive off of it.

Some ships don't allow you to take food from the ship to the islands. I know Disney does not, they even have a cute little phrase they say "no bananas from the cabanas" and some other things they mention :)

Thanks Tiffany, I learned some new tips from your video and I have been on 7 cruises to date. One tip I like to pass on is that I bring (from the Dollar Tree) a packet of Bounce Dryer Sheets, a packet of Tide Pods and a Gift Bag for my cabin Stewart. This little $3.00 gift really goes far on the cruise ship. I make sure to grab it the very first time I make contact with my cabin Stewart and give it to him or her, because they can really make my vacation so much better.

I brought a few small thank you cards for the cabin stewards and dining room helpers and put $20 in them cuz they really work hard. If you take the time to get to know their name, they’ll make your cruising better. The dining room helpers would find you a nice table at the buffet and save a table for you while you go to the buffet.

Since I live in Alaska, I’ve found that people love the little trinkets. I will bring an assortment of keychains, magnets, and so forth and hand them out on our last day to the friends I’ve made. I also bring a few thank you cards for the employees I’ve gotten to know and put a magnet in there with a nice tip. People still enjoy those little things and it makes a difference to get a hand-written thank you card. I’ve always given these gifts on the last day or the night before because I don’t expect anything in return from the friends I’ve made or the employees. I’ve found that just being kind gets me a lot of benefits from the employees and I never want the friends I’ve made to think they need to give me something in return. This is only the way I do things and I don’t want anyone thinking that because I may do it differently that your may be wrong, it’s not. Do what makes you comfortable and how you think is right.

Taking my #?? cruise this December...this video was a great reminder of things to have available. Two things that I do know...not all cruise lines allow power strips that have surge protectors OR cords. I'm purchasing a power cube that fits right into an outlet without a cord. And they don't all have self service laundry. I do bring products tho so I can hand wash a few items. Must remember to get those large clips to hold towels but also to keep my bathing suit on the balcony when drying. 🏊☀️⛱️

A helpful tip: Use a jumbo pill organizer for all of your family meds and label them. You will have them all in one spot and easy to read labels. Tylenol, Excedrin, cold and flu, Anti-diarrhea and anything else your family may need in case of emergencies. Hopefully, no one will need them, but you will have them if any of you do. Make sure your labels are easy to read and taped on well. Have a great holiday!

Any RX meds I take out of original bottles and put in pill organizers, I apply a label on the bottom. You can request extra labels be printed at the pharmacy.

I saw someone else post this too. Not all ships have self-service laundry, but if you needed to just wash small items in the sink, you can purchase those one-use detergents too. I also bring a sample size bottle of dish soap to wash glasses/cups(a dish towel from home - don't want to use bath towels to dry them! LOL) On Princess, they have the Medallion now so you don't need cards and have hands-free to open your cabin door. The also have apps that let you message each other and the map will help you locate each other on ship. And...they have a bunch of laundry facilities! I too, do some laundry mid-way through the cruise. I've used most of the items you listed and they worked great! Magnets weren't as strong as I would have liked though. Great video! That was a great list Tiffany thanks for sharing. I myself love to cruise as well. One item I found to be very helpful to keep our cabin a little more organized is a clear shoe hanger. I used it to store almost everything we brought along with us. It was very easy to located the things that were needed and allowed more drawer and dresser space. This worked great for me and my family. I loved this idea so much that I currently use it in my home for some of my kids items in their rooms.

Great job...thank you for the ideas. Don’t forget soaps, toothbrush/holders. They now sell socks I refuse to walk on the carpeted floor. I always take allergy medicines especially for lobster night I’m allergic, cheap straw hats. I could go on. I love the Dollar Tree.

Cruise ships have restrictions that you can’t take a surge protector. You can take an extension cord or a multi usb charger.

Hello. I really love your list and video for things to pack for a cruise. I only disagree with one item; laundry detergent. I don't like bringing laundry detergent, whether liquid or powdered. I recommend bringing laundry pods for the traveling wash load. I have had past experiences with liquid detergent spilling while in transit. I took my first cruise in April 2018, and I brought laundry pods versus buying the expensive marked up detergent from the ship. It was perfect! But I love your list and I will definitely check this list before I go on the Carnival Legend for spring break in 2020!

One item that we took to our vacation in Turks and Caicos was Pedialyte AdvancedCare packets! I used one every morning and felt great! Its perfect if you spent a little too much time in the sun or indulged in a few too many drinks! The directions say to mix with 16 ounces water, but I recommend 20 ounces because its a little strong tasting. Of all the items that we took, that was the most beneficial besides sunscreen! Oh I also bought those XXL (or XL) ZipLoc bags for each of us to put our dirty clothes in. I put our names on them so everyone knew where to put their dirties! I want to take a cruise, what cruise line are you taking?

I buy gallon size ziplocks and put anything that can spill in them. I also put plastic wrap under the cap to shampoo/conditioner, etc as an extra precaution. Especially if I am going somewhere warm.

Instead of carrying the bottle of liquid soap and a bottle of liquid fabric softener that I find heavy in your suitcase especially if you are flying I find that you can also at the Dollar tree by the package of five soap pods that come similar to tide or other ones that you can buy name brands in this grocery store and they come Pfiefer dollars so that will do five loads and also in a small snack lunch baggies I put several sheets of downy fabric softener this is quite a bit lighter to carry then the two bottles of liquid you were showing it's just what I personally use

Another GREAT buy for a cruise is a disposable bath mat so you don't have to put your feet where countless others have! Not sure if it can be had a dollar tree but is certainly inexpensive!

Keep in mine, sanitizers work OK, but washing your hands for at least 30 seconds with soap helps to prevent ‘cooties’ from ruining your vacation more so than sanitizer lotion, gel or spray.

Mary, do what I did & book the cruise THEN tell him about it :) My hubby & I had only ever been on one full week long vacation in 24 years. I could never talk him into taking a full week. We've always done 3-4 day stay-cations or a long weekend here & there. Finally, I was sick of it, booked us a 7 day cruise, no kids & told him it was non-refundable (white lie, which I confessed to later!). Needless to say, we're booked for our 4th cruise next week & he's hooked, lol!!

Also sometimes they have hats straw or baseball hats. Umbrellas, in case there is a shower or for shade. Snacks makeup but didnt try,got trial size Lysol spray. If Dollar store doesnt have try Walmart in their trial size section.

I always bring the Clorox wipes to wipe down toilet and knobs and handles and air freshener for the bathroom thanks for the tips great video 👍 and you can take ginger root vitamins for seasickness they're a lot cheaper and it's natural and it doesn't make you drowsy 😊 you can bring any size bottles of shampoo in your checked luggage😄 we fly a lot and you're right on the night light I always bring those to

My dollar tree has freeze dried apples. They weigh next to nothing and are awesome to take on excursions. We also pack ziplock bags so we can take some snacks with us (from buffet or bought before hand). My #1 suggestion is buying the propel electrolyte packets to add to your water. The extra electrolytes are so important with all the sun and especially if you’ve indulged in a few too many drinks. We each drink water with propel every morning.

I bought plastic craft organizers at dollar tree today. Cruising with 8 & 10 yr old grand daughters. I plan on personalizing them fir each. I will fill with different snacks in each compartment. They are perfect for excursions or on the deck by the pool. They are driving from DC to Ft Lauderdale. They can use it for the day trip to Universal, and the car ride home too.

Thank you for this video. Now what you can do with the small sewing kit. Put in the colors of what your wresting. It’s good to change it every time you use the traveling sewing kit. Now what I did the medicines I had gotten a makeup bag from Dollar. Tree and I did find one it’s red who knew so I put all the medicine I’m taking and. Put a small tag and tied it to bag. I wrote. Medicine Bag on mine.
