This is encouraging to see the tree bearing fruit. I love soursop as a smoothie. I have a small soursop plant, still in container, and have been carrying it indoor every night. Thank you for sharing.

So much work... I'll stick with atemoya and cherimoya. I've really only had soursop in Vietnam as a smoothie. I remember it being very stringy eaten fresh. But that was when I was maybe 8 years old.

When I bought the plant, it was a debate between $18 per pound or $100 for the tree 😂.

You should try named cultivars e.g. Miami, Sunrise or Homestead. Fruit is much better than seedling.

Thank you for sharing, do you use any special fertilizer?
@GQsGarden3 жыл бұрын
Hi ! I use osmocote 14.14.14 every three months. Bloom booster spring-summer and two shovels of compost in late fall, early winter.

Is your soursop in a pot or in the ground? I want to buy a big one so it won’t die on me this time. What do I think? I live in gg
@GQsGarden3 жыл бұрын
My tree is in the ground. I bought mine for about $95 (8-9 years ago) in 5 gallons. They grow very quick so don't spend too much on a big tree. It's important that it has protection during winter if you decide to grow pot or in-ground. I have relatives in gg who grow them in the ground they do fine with protection. Best Wishes!

👋I used a tablespoon of bloom booster with two gallons of water every two weeks starting early spring/end of winter. Two handfuls of Osmocote 14.14.14 every three months starting end of winter.

My 2 year old soursop tree lost all of its leaves during the last 2 weeks in southern calif when the weather turned between 35-45F. Does your tree, since it's older, able to withstand the cold better and keep its fruits and leaves?
@GQsGarden4 жыл бұрын
👋My tree still have some leaves. I think the house protected it somewhat. Two yrs ago it lost all its leave but flushed with lush green by spring .
@greenblood37083 жыл бұрын
as long as branches are alive it will reflush leaves as it gets above 60 at night. Soursop is deciduous in cool climates (without frost).

Beautiful, how do you tell if it pollinate properly and how long after the flower drop off does it takes for it to start to look like a fruit.
@GQsGarden4 жыл бұрын
👋 you can’t tell til about 1 1/2 months or so when you see little cracks on the the brown part between the stem and stigma. After that you should see the stigma began to separate to individuals spine. I would say about 2-3 months before you see a little fruit. I does take a long time 😂. I hope that helps.

It's a seedling. Most of the flowers I hand-pollinate 7-8pm.
