The old Lanz Bulldog must be the Model T Ford of farm tractors. It seems every farmer in Europe owned one, at some point.

They sold it primarely in Germany, and to big farms. The other Europeans had local models, for example Landinin in Italy, Field Master and Fordson in the UK and Somega in France. Compared to North America the farm mechanisation was delayed 25 years. Still in 1949 my father learned in a German School for agriculture that combines will never become the main harvesting machine for grains and maize in Europe.
