How is it going? I hope you had a lovely Fourth of July. It is SO hot here in Southern California, I've been just trying to stay cool. I also came down with a cold (Caught it from Stephen) and I've just started recovering from it. What a bummer! I'm hoping next week will be better.

🌼 Off the silver screen, Daniela is a biologist interested in the ecology, behavior, and evolution of social insect societies, mainly honey bees and wood ants. She completed her doctorate (PhD) in honey bee genomics and behavior at the University of California, San Diego in 2022.
🌼 Currently, she is completing a UC Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Riverside with Dr. Jessica Purcell's research group, studying supergene evolution in a native wood ant.
🌼 Daniela strongly believes in the importance and value of science communication and education and strives to make science both accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience. Her science communication style is broadly influenced by theater, dance, spoken word, comedy, and telenovelas.
🌼 She is also currently working on developing STEAM educational programming for the incarcerated communities of southern California as part of a larger prison-industrial complex abolition project. She is interested in developing courses that use zines as learning tools to promote interactive engagement with scientific topics.
🌼 When she’s not analyzing DNA sequences, you can find her papercrafting, gardening, foraging for wild mushrooms, hiking in Death Valley, or looking for horned lizards in San Diego's beautiful chaparral and desert regions.

I hope you had a great holiday weekend! Your spread turned out great!!! I always put deco at the top as well, especially in a big size lined vertical. I really don't care for the grey area. I do like the lined vertical though. I don't want your bug job to end! I love hearing about your job, what you do, and your co-workers. Are there anymore grants you can apply for, or other research jobs out there? I hope something comes through for you! 💕

Hi Angie!! 💖 So good to hear from you girl!! YES, putting deco at the top just always takes the spread to the next level, I think it's such an easy way to make sure it looks good. And OMG I feel the same way about the grey boxes in the lined vertical. I wish they were colorless or in nice pastel or bright colors. I remember one of the first planners I got was the Celebrate Lined Vertical planner in a classic size and the boxes at the top were all in beautiful rainbow colors. I really miss the bright and fun planners from the Happy Planner!

Ooh welcome to the Happy Planner Community!! I have never looked back since I joined in 2019. Oh no, that's a bummer you thought it was a classic! I believe the line also has a classic vertical but the cover isn't as cute in my opinion as the BIG. I definitely will have more lined vertical plan with me's coming up as I'm using this planner for my work planner! 💖
