30+ KNOTS KITEBOARDING FREE RIDE!! - Court In The Act

It has been mostly light wind since we arrived here in the Canary Islands however some strange weather and wind directions came through a few days go, delivering a SW storm to the island. As we do most days we put all the kit in the car that we thought we might use headed to the beach, first stop was a morning kite loop session in the big waves on Cotillo beach. Grinding shore break leads to epic kickers for loops in strong wind on the 8m Dice... its so good to get up in the air again and blow the cobwebs away.
Driving the north shore to check some spots, we enjoyed a spot of Kook watching along the way. Before arriving at the afternoon session spot. A wave session for Craig's first afternoon on the island, heading to one of the many north shore reefs for a strapless wave ride shred to get him into some size... some big wight water and some close calls... but a decent shot of adrenaline for the day!!!

Nice one!!! It looks like you would have landed every single loop if you would send your kite left earlier out of each loop, rise up, swing under it and let it catch by a right downloop. But maybe it just looks like that. Sometimes it’s just the conditions ey haha.

Some gnarly waves there Tom. Great vid good it all ended well. How does the low V affect the kites performance and safety compared to the Standard Duotone high split would it make self landing easier?

it makes the kite less reactive and feel a bit heavier on the bar for sure!!

Yes it was a bit gusty but also I didn’t have my v-split in 😂😂

Yea 8m for the loops 7m for the waves... about 90-95kgs somthing like that

hi Tom are you riding with your click bar without the front Y split high up ? hard to tell but it looks like you have the fronts coming right down to the top of the depower ? cheers ;-)

Yes that is correct. That’s how I use it when putting GoPro in my lines

@@tomcourtkite does this affect the dice or the rebel in terms of stability loosing the y split . I seem to remember the old norths had to have the y split high as it pinched the kite in and kept its stability .I'm interested in losing the single central line so i can self land easier by pulling the top front to tip the kite over on the beach (something ive done for years on ozones) maybe you could do a vid on your bar set up .... :-) Thanks for your replies ....keep up the great vids !

@@peterhicks9192 I will do a vid on my setup mate. You can still land the kite from the tip even with the v-split but it’s a bit more fiddly.

Hi Tom! Nice video , as usual! Why are you riding your gear with a V-split? Isn't it recommended by Duotone to use the Y-spit that comes with all the bars?

Yes it is. I took my v-split off to use my GoPro line mount tho. You can see how it makes the kite sit deeper in the window

Great vids. Can you use the line mount ok with the Y-split too? and if the kite sits deeper with the split taken out, does that make it drift nicer in sideshore waves?

@@robmacintyre3020 you could use it with the v-split in but the camera would be too far away from you. Lower split doesn’t make it drift any better
