Loved watching Greg have his best day on the water at my hometown lake. Pinkston continues to produce- but in the 1980's the fishing was phenomenal. Back then it was a world class trophy fishing reservoir created by TPWD biologists. They stocked & introduced a gene pool of Florida Hybrids called F-1's. Along w/stocking 1000's of bass TPWD, also stocked about 100 special "Monster Bass" brood fish in Pinkston weighing 4-8 lbs. to breed w/the other bass stocked there and introduce these special genes to the entire population of bass at Pinkston. One of these brood fish was later caught and became a TX State Record at 16.9 lbs. in 1986. Another giant caught - which was the 2nd largest caught from Pinkston for several years, was my PB of 14.02 lbs. caught a few weeks after the record fish. We've (Dad & me) caught 20+ bass over 8 lbs. from Pinkston w/5- 10+'s, including 2- 12+er's in the mix (1 of those 12's on a buzzbait!). All the giants like that are now gone from Pinkston, but an excellent population of 8-10 lb.ers (maybe a few 12's?) are still swimming around out on this little 750 ac. City of Center Water Supply Reservoir just waiting to be caught. Please practice Catch & Release. Pinkston is a near perfect kayaking lake! I know every inch of it -10 times over. Please help us take care of our little gem hidden deep the Piney Woods of east Texas. T

Holy crap Greg.....I'm slackjaw here! Every time you said "oh my god" I was getting chills. That was, without any question, an EPIC day. Your right though on those fished being spawned out....even the healthier ones were not particularly fat. As I'm sure you know a 25" fish can easily go 10+....depending on how crazy its belly is I'd say it could crack low teens. So happy for you you and maybe even more jealous....you caught more 5lb and 6lb fish in one day than I did all last year. I think you better set up permanent residence in TX.....come back to the Northeast and you know days like that simply don't exist (at least size wise). Congrats buddy on one for the record books!

Definitely man. I was just looking at a post on Swimbait Underground about a recent catch that was 23" and 13lbs....and it wasn't even crazy "fish beef" stomach fat, just very very healthy. At least your blessed with such a water to fish thats close. With fish of the length you were catching it seems like its only a matter of time (short time) before you crack a DD there.

Hi Greg. I'm just curious about your East Texas year(s). I grew up there near Nacogdoches. I have fished every river, creek, and lake within an hour's driving distance of Lufkin/Nacogdoches.......except Lake Pinkston. I plan to return soon and I will make it a point to fish that little lake now that I have watched this video. Thanks man! I would fish it around grass and preferably in cloudy conditions with a little chop on the water. Just dedicate time throwing it with those conditions and you should be able to catch some and gain confidence and skill with it!
