You think you can make a playlist of your videos that are in an order from beginners to advanced? I see you have a playlist for ambience tutorials with about 70 videos, but where do I start? Haha

This is a really great video! Up until now I've only really dipped my toe in pure ambient music a few times, but I followed along doing the exact same steps (but in Logic) and was really surprised at the results. It's really inspired me to create more music in this style - thank you so much! 🙏

This is great! I was following along with my own Ableton and Serum, but then I hit the bit with your custom wave table. Ack! I'm not in a position to join your Patreon, so instead I fooled around in Serum and Wavetable, and in the process learned HEAPS about Wavetable, and got usable, musical sound out of it! I'm an old preset guy from wayback, so being able to tweak knobs to produce decent sound is a big thing for me. Thank you! I'll keep going on finishing that ambient track! :)

Thank you Chris. My age is in my YT handle (yeah, a "Boomer"). I have an equal interest in all music from Classics (Chopin, Beethoven , etc.) to anything I hear today from young or old - I don't care what it is it's just gotta sound good to me (disco, D'n'B, Psytrance, Pop, Rap, whatever!). My fascination in electronic music started in ~1972 with Hot Butter's version of "Popcorn". I was enamoured. Then the Fairlight CMI came out a few years later in my home country... Today I do electronics, programming, CompSys Engineering, AI, and ICT because of those "sparks". Looking for something to do in my "latter" years and here I am, practically full circle, about to embark on a new "spark". You're an awesome inspiration, mate! (patr'd for a yr 😉)

Great video Chris. I like the look of the Kult plugin. Would Pigments do a similar job to Kult?
@s1gns0fl1fe
@s1gns0fl1fe 9 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s a good comparison. KULT is an original synth, for sure. Nothing quite like it. That’s said, Pigments covers much of that sonic territory, at least for me.

Damn! Soooooo fortunate to have found your channel. I've been dabbling in ambient for awhile to help with my PTSD and anxiety and wanted to learn some straight to the point no BS tips and tricks to quicken my skills and this just blew my mind. I followed to the T and was spot on, except I don't have your presets and kult yet haha. But I've always tried to mess with Serum and found it not to my liking but your tutorial made me appreciate and respect it much more. Plus the Kult synth was what I was looking for to add to my other projects and that was a bonus. Great content! Stay blessed.

I really like the sounds you created here. Tasty stuff. However for this becoming a real "track" what I miss is some arrangement. I hoped that you cover this as well to some extend. Because that's what I struggle with the most atm. Any tips for song arrangement? Maybe a video that you did yourself? I'd love that. Thanks so much for everything you are doing for the genre and community.

Search for the word "arrangements" on my channel and you'll find several videos covering this topic. Also a recent video I did called "Off the Grid" covers it as well. Hope that helps!

I had to LOL a bit on the Vital comment... its literally the same, in terms of the front end, plus you get another front end filter. You just need to get used to the differences in the interface. They are both great to use and pretty easy, in comparison to say Pigments or god forbid Massive X. Massive X hurts my brain, but they all relatively do the same things. All down to presets at some point, but I find it really easy working in Vital or Serum and yes, I know, there are haters and lovers out there of both. For me, Vital being free, its really hard to beat. I bought Serum and still find myself more comfortable in Vital, due to working in it a long time. With Vital, the latest couple of updates have been game changers, as it used to be slow and clunky... not anymore. Phase Plant is another one that is complicated, but once you understand the workflow, it begins to make sense.

Mate, I don't have any of the synths you have, and I only have Valhalla Supermassive, but even with just that, the stock Echo delay plugin from Ableton and the default Wavetable synth, I was able to create something absolutely mesmerizing. Thank you so much for this tutorial, it has really inspired me to dive deeper into ambient music production!

Glad to hear I inspire you! If you're struggling with this, perhaps try a different approach to music making. Try and identify what you want your music to sound like (example track) and then try to recreate the sounds used within. Try using presets as a starting point. Best of luck!
