Recipe: This video is for UG2LS Students. Want to know how easy it is to make a 30HTLS recipe? For those of you who have experience making liquid soap and have made it up to this point in the UG2LS coursebook, join us as we make our Sweet Cocoa Almond 30-Minute Liquid Soap recipe below.
www.ultimatehpsoap.com/post/3...
-If you are new to soap making, have not completed the UG2LS coursebook, or do not have experience working with soap at a higher temperature, please use a Cold Process and Low Temperature Hot Process method instead, as this is a process and recipe designed for those with experience in the science and process of liquid soap making.
-Please follow all heat and lye safety protocols. The recipe must be adhered to and no additive or oil substitutions should be made unless you have experience formulating 30HTLS recipes.
-Starting temperature should be at 210-215F (99-106.7C)
-Your heating receptacle must allow for expansion and we recommend at least 3X the total base volume (oil+alkalis+water+glycerin)
-Use the continuous mixing process until the soap has reached cream phase, and then stop, cover, and allow to sit until soap-neutral.
-If after "cream" phase the soap becomes thicker and more jelly-like, rather than remaining in cream phase, this is ok, simply use your immersion blender to mix.
-Ensure that soap is soap-neutral before adding dilution water by using a zap-test or pH testing method
-Dilution temperature should be at 175-200F (79C-93C). If your dilution temperature is above the boiling point of water, it will bubble and water will evaporate, which hinders the dilution process
-We recommend a starting 32% soap concentration. This is the average saturation point of this recipe, less water may cause anhydrate soap. More water can be added if desired to create a lower soap concentration.
-After the recipe has cleared on the bottom post-dilution water, remove from the heat source and allow to completely cool to room temperature before proceeding with any next steps. This will allow you to adjust the soap concentration or hydrate an anhydrous soap.
-If a layer of anhdyrate soap (white foamy goop) remains on top of the surface after the soap has completely cooled (soap must be room temperature, not warm, anhydrate soap will often dilute as it cools), you may remove and hydrate separately. Often this is due to variances in fatty acid composition and cooling at the surface.
-This recipe when diluted will produce a moderate viscosity soap due to the solvents and lauric/myristic fatty acid content. If you wish to have a thicker soap, do not decrease the water content, but rather add a thickening agent after production. Additional sodium chloride can be added in 0.1% increments.
-This recipe is made with a 2% lye discount and does not require any neutralization process or acidification
-The KOH for this recipe is calculated at 90%. If your potassium hydroxide is of a different purity, you must adjust your recipe accordingly.

I just followed each step, after watching this video numerous times ( because I wanted to make sure I had stuff written down and placed in my brain) and made the soap while also watching this video. This was the fasted and easiest liquid soap I have done. I have done some in the past and they took me two days to complete the entire process. So thankful you have put this video out!! ❤️

Absolutely paradigm shifting stuff Ashley !!! Awesome work !!! Thank you for what you have done. Quick question please. What units are used in the recipes in all your books available online please ? Do you have the Imperial and Metric in the recipes?
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan! Our books contain recipes in both grams and ounces. While our first book released contained recipes that used more imperial units of measurement (soap calculator screenshots), we have since worked to switch to grams both due to the global student audience and my desire for more precise and correct units of measurement. We understand that people prefer both, and have worked hard to provide both, although grams is the way I have been formulating my recipes for the past several years (which is a long way from the recipes I first made that called for units such as "one can of lye" and "two cups of lard"). I hope this answers your question! -Ashley @ UG2SOAP

Why thank you! Liquid soap is safe and ready for use right after production. You can allow your soap to "sequester" (bar soap cures and liquid soap sequesters) for a few days to ensure there are no issues before adding your post cook additives

@@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP Thank you!!! one more question can I add EO to the soap and when?
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheMariana29 Yes, you can add EO/FO after dilution when the soap is still warm. Be sure to test a small amount first and note that clouding is normal due to the particulates and may clear. I would also recommend the use of an added emulsifier with this recipe because there is already a small superfat to prevent separation. Polysorbate works wonderfully. If you are interested in learning more about liquid soap making, including formulating and additives and our 30-Minute liquid soap process, I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy of The Ultimate Guide to Liquid Soap coursebook too. For the same price as one "failed" batch, you can have perfect crystal-clear liquid soap every time and eliminate the "failures".

@@TheMariana29 Also, EO/FO is not the same concentration as bar soap and you only want to use between 1-2%

Does this have a honey like sweet scent (already has a scent to it) or can we add a EO or FO scent to it afterwards?
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP 2 жыл бұрын
While this certainly does have a more aromatic scent to it due to the ingredients, it probably isn't going to be that strong "honey" fragrance it sounds like you are seeking. You can definitely include a fragrance or essential oil for added smells! Follow the direction from your Ultimate Guide to Liquid Soap book, consider a reduced usage rate for liquid soap, and be sure to use an additional emulsifier if needed! -Ashley @ UG2SOAP

Can it be made without glycerine?
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP
@THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP 4 жыл бұрын
The glycerin plays a huge role in the 30HTLS process and all of the additives provided are required for a successful 30HTLS recipe. You can certainly make this recipe without glycerin for a beautiful and softening liquid soap recipe but without the glycerin, you will significantly slow the saponification and dilution in addition to affecting other aspects like dilution requirements and the need for preservative.

Each of these additives affects the chemical properties of the formula that allow for a faster saponification and dilution process. We go into significant detail about how each of the 30HTLS additives allows for a faster process in our book The Ultimate Guide to Liquid Soap and have an entire chapter on the importance and necessity of them in no-paste liquid soap making. You can find more information about this at www.ultimatehpsoap.com/liquidsoap

@@lisaforde1641 We formulate and engineer our recipes and process using the fundamentals of soap science and chemistry for the acceleration of saponification and rapid dilution. We eliminate the formation of a thick and viscous paste which significantly speeds the dilution period. Each additive affects the chemical composition in a systematic method to obtain and achieve these goals. This video was created specifically for UG2LS students and we discuss all of these things in great detail in our book with over 500 pages and multiple videos that describe and teach the process and methodology.
