Whether the system thinks its a metro is not important. Part is underground and part is on the surface. Most important is it keeps more cars off the streets and offers careless people a way to get around. Extensions and more lines would really be beneficial!! Thanx Tim for sharing😀😀♥️

Thank you Tim. Philly's Blue Line is mostly elevated but undergroubd through central business district. Also 5 trolley lines are underground through CBD and street level elsewhere.

One tram sub-terrain station in Vienna is at the main station (Hauptbahnhof) of line 18. Tunnel goes from there under the belt road (Gürtel) to the west with two forks along.

Please visit Ukraine next time, the high speed trams and funicular of Kyiv, metro of Kharkiv, Swiss trams of Vinnytsya, underground tram in Kryvyi Rih (similar to Volgograd's), funicular and trams of Odesa, narrow streets with trams in Lviv, Skodas, Van Hool and other european classics in Chernivtsi

I have never understood people who call this tram system strange and illogical. This is a normal practice for socialist countries, including the USSR. The subway could be built in cities with a population of more than 1 million people. Volgograd, on the other hand, had a population of 800 thousand people, but the usual tram no longer took it out. Czech trams from Praga, we are now getting riid of trams T6A5 best (and last from CKD) you can take them cheapely for your citie, we have few stupid politicians saying that we must have modern ctrams and we are getting rid of something which works perfectly, deffinitelly in winter with snow...
