Girlfriend Magazine sat down with American country musician Hunter Hayes, who recently toured the country for Bluesfest, to ask him 30 hilarious questions (did you know he can play 30 different instruments?! Wow!). 30 Questions with Hunter Hayes
I’m Laura and I’m here with Hunter Hayes. It’s his first time in Australia, he’s playing Bluesfest. He’s pretty talented; he can play thirty different instruments. So in honour of that amazing fact, we’re going to ask him thirty different questions.
First question; what is your star sign?
Hunter: Star sign, what does that even mean? Oh, star sign, Virgo.
Laura: It is Virgo, I checked!
Laura: Can you tell what an instrument is, just by hearing it playing?
Hunter: Most of the time, yes.
Laura: What song do you wish you wrote?
Hunter: A lot of them, one of them just recently, well, as of this morning, Counting Stars. I was listening to it and I love it.
Laura: What do you think of being called the male Taylor Swift?
Hunter: She’s awesome, so I’m cool with that.
Laura: What’s your favorite Swiftie song?
Hunter: I really like Style.
Laura: What TV show is your guilty pleasure?
Hunter: Guilty pleasure? I got a few. I have a few car shows that are guilty pleasures.
Laura: Is you mum’s gumbo the best gumbo in the world?
Hunter: Oh yeah, absolutely.
Laura: What’s the secret to a good gumbo?
Hunter: My mum.
Laura: Do you prefer twitter or Instagram?
Hunter: Instagram, I like pictures.
Laura: What was the first thing you did when you arrived in Australia?
Hunter: Got a triple espresso.
Laura: Was it great?
Hunter: It was great. I needed it, so even if it sucked it was going to be great.
Laura: What’s one piece of Australian slang you do not get?
Hunter: I guess, technically speaking, I don’t understand the origin of saying ‘good onya’ but I like saying it, so I’m not going to question it.
Laura: Of all the clothes you own, which is your favorite piece?
Hunter: I do have this one leather jacket, which is really cool. I can feel myself going from feeling like a total dork, to feeling like I’m the coolest guy in the world.
Laura: What’s the best present you’ve ever given someone?
Hunter: I’m not that great at gifts, honestly. I try my best, I don’t know.
Laura: Are you an experience type of guy or a homemade type man?
Hunter: I’m definitely not a do-it -yourself type guy. I was pretty proud of myself one time, I gave someone a watch because I’m a watch guy.
Laura: That’s a great gift.
Hunter: I had showed him this watch specifically, and he freaked out about it. So, I found that watch and I was able to get it for him.
Laura: If you were a dog, what kind of dog would you be?
Hunter: I would be a greyhound, they’re fast and they’re awesome.
Laura: What would your name be?
Hunter: I don’t know. Something fast, like flash or lightning.
Laura: Which of your songs is your favorite to perform?
Hunter: I don’t know, ‘I want crazy.’
Laura: How are you feeling about Zayn leaving one direction?
Hunter: Shocked.
Laura: We all are, we’re just getting on with our lives. What’s the best place to take a girl on a first date?
Hunter: Well, dinner. I do like dinner because it’s not really about the dinner its about the two or three hours you could spend talking. Then I kind of like just getting in the car and driving around, just talking, continuing that conversation.
Laura: Were we you before you came here today?
Hunter: Where was I before I came here? Buying a souvenir.
