Over the years I have had my struggles with mental health issues and self-love issues. I used to think it was a me thing because Mental health issues were never really talked about and now I am finding my voice.
I have been wanting to speak up and help others that might be going through similar struggles I have faced and still go through but fear had me. So for my birthday this year, I decided I wanted it to be meaningful, I wanted to speak up, I wanted it to make a difference so I asked 30 amazing people I have interacted with in my life to help me speak up and create awareness around mental health issues in African homes and on a daily as a black person. Most importantly they helped me with defining self-love. It doesn't matter what society/the internet says, it doesn't matter what you have been through or looks like, we all deserve to feel loved, to get help to feel good, and to love ourselves unconditionally no matter what we going through or how we look.
I would like to thank everyone who opened up and are willing to give a little of themselves to spread the word of loving yourself and dealing with mental health issues as a black African.
