I purchased this beautiful 1992 B13 Nissan Sentra SE-R with 435 original miles through Bring a Trailer back in April 2022 from its original owner. What a great experience and a great fulfillment of finally owning my high school dream car after 30 years of waiting.
Here is the a link to an article Hagerty did on the terrific backstory about the car and it’s history:
www.hagerty.com/media/car-pro...
Also, a link to the original Bring a Trailer listing, which had almost 77,000 view and 2600 followers. Not to mention almost 400 comments from enthusiasts sharing their stories about the SE-R in general:

You should definitely drive it more often, it won't matter value-wise if it has 400 miles or 1500 miles...it will always retain it's value because it's most likely the nicest one in existence.

I really miss the early-mid 90s Nissan styling, including the interior styling and materials as this car displays. I was and still am a fan of this car for what it is. Great bang for the buck, refined and fun to drive. The SE-R made the Car and Driver 10Best list back then.

You are right, it was hard to beat the bang for the buck with this model back then. One of the big reasons Car and Driver and others loved them so much. It’s hard to get that raw driving experience for a reasonable price anymore. Thanks for watching.

I wanted this car so much, at 19 I bought the 1994 Sentra XE in black, very similar looking to this with a 5 speed transmission. I loved it. I couldn’t afford the SE-R at the time, but I had lots of fun with this car, very reliable , very economical. I lend it to a friend & they totaled it. Now 30 years later, I would love to find one like this one. Enjoy, hopefully you can do a couple of POV videos so we can sort of appreciate this car with you!

Man, I love these cars, bought mine over 15yrs ago with 44k original miles on it, the at 80k got the fifth gear popout, and thats when the modifications started, sr20ve that makes ove 200whp and will put v8's to shame in it, including a c5 corvette up to 120mph, shell now has over 265k. Sadly was involved in an accident on the 28th of December, miss her 😢, but seeing this video just inspires me more to fix it and bring her back to life. Thank you for an awesome video and history of this gem 💎

In December of 1991, my girlfriend drove me to pick up a brand new SE-R. A couple years later I’d drive to a jewelry store in the SE-R and by her an engagement ring. We drove home from our wedding in the SE-R, and in 1999 I drove her to the hospital in that car to give birth to our first. Aside from all that, the SE-R was a gem to drive. So balanced, so simple, so much fun. I let my brother drive it, he went and bought a new one for himself. I let my college roommate drive it, he went to the dealer and bought one. My dad had a 944 at the time, we all agreed the SE-R was the next best thing. Never had a problem with the car. It had 130k miles on it when I sold it. I have a 944 now, and living with an analog car again is making me appreciate how great the SE-R was. I don’t like the expression “they don’t make them like they used to”, but it’s true. Miss that car.

Awesome story, Ed! I’m not sure I have heard someone’s personal experience as good as yours. I am sure it was hard to let that one go with all those memories. Thanks for sharing this vehicle. It’s a gem. It was and still in my opinion, an automotive icon. To refresh memories of the late 80s, it was not until 1985 that GM manufactured a fuel injected V-8 that produced 190 horsepower when equipped with an automatic. Prior to it, GM was selling a carbureted 5 liter making 150 to 165. horsepower when equipped with an automatic. 5 years later Nissan is producing a 4 cylinder making 140 horsepower that come close to matching later 80s models Pony cars by reaching 0 to 60mph , in 7.5 seconds. I was to afraid to assume payments, but I did salivate over this car. I did test drive a 1995 or 1996 200SX SE-R Coupe.

I looked at these in 92. It was down to the SE-R, GTI 16v, or MX3 GS. I chose the VW GTI. A bit much for a high school kid graduation present. Very sadly it was Repoed 2 yrs later. Destroyed me. Parents divorced and mom in accident, lost business.. I was a clueless 21 yr old, did not realize I could Work and pay payments. In 1998, I bought one for cash (after someone hit me in moms truck, 2 yrs to get pain reimbursements). It had 107k. 1 owner. I still have it. It will never go. 193k now. More fun than ever. Love the styling, dual rounds, fat fenders, wonder Recaro seats, lack of power windows and mirrors.. love the manual sunroof. Tastefully modified. KW coilovers. Neuspeed sway bars. I just love MK2 GTIs. Shock an SE-R is more than a new Civic Si. But very cool. I keep my cars :)

Man what a nice car. I had a 1987 Sentra in high school and I love that car especially it being a five speed and it had long gears. But I wish I had a se-r. That car is what started kids modifying jdm cars.

@@TheAutoRanch Or a Surgeon!! I know a software Engineer and a Professor in Puerto Rico that love their 1992 Sentra SE. I brought them marker lights one trip as they were broken. This is when I noticed the Sentra had a suspension that Dodge likely copied for their Neon (I had one, mint looking and drove it like I stole it every day until the timing belt snapped.). They also have a castle of a house in Guatemala City and a cool little place in the Poconos.

It looks like a 3/4ths scale Nissan Maxima SE if Nissan had ever made a 2 door coupe Maxima. I think it's cool that it has been kept with such low miles and ideally it should be passed on to someone else who can preserve it for the next 30 years in like new condition with under 1000 miles. Just incredible.

Like you, I buy cars, improve them and sell, but typically at a loss. I am older (60) and loved all these cars in the 90's when in my late 20's and 30's and could not buy a simple accord or maxima or one of these. Now that I can, I have been buying both std and automatics to enjoy both. Acura's, Honda's, Nissans, Toyota's, ect.... I saw this for sale on BAT a few weeks ago and thought hard about buying it but have had a few that were very pristine and was afraid to enjoy them including a '95 Acura Legend I have now. I'm starting to alleviate/satiate the strong desire for Japanese 90's cars as I've been through a bunch and that also the logistics can take away too much from my life. I'll buy an SE-R one day but I prefer a car that's somewhere between a clean daily driver and pristine. That's the sweet spot for me that can give me the enjoyment. That said, you have a stunning car.
@TheAutoRanch
@TheAutoRanch Жыл бұрын
I can understand your desire to acquire and enjoy these 90’s cars that were really special and are able to be enjoyed. The nicer they are, the harder it can be to put miles on them. I like unicorn cars that no one else has out there and that likely will continue to be sought after as time passes and nostalgia grows for them. It gets harder and harder to find a real low mile example that’s super clean as time passes. It sounds like you have a nice collection to enjoy though. The mid 90’s Legends were a lot of fun.
