Classic footage right here! Nice Upload, brings back alot of memories. Jim McKay was one of a kind , there will never be another like him, or another show like Wide World of Sports.

The vintage "Wide World Of Sports" opening starting at 2:09 of this clip was not the original 1961 opening. The opening was used from 1962 until 1966, when "Wide World" began being broadcast in color.

Jim McKay was the first voice heard on Baltimore TV in the late 40's as WMAR-TV Channel 2 signed on.

Thank you for remembering that. Jim McKay (aka Jim McManus) hosted Baltimore's first television program of any kind in 1947-the fifth race at Pimlico Race Track. WMAR opened without a studio and all of its programming was from buses and locales throughout the city. In 1951 the station had its first studio at 2 Westwood Street.

In the early 70s they'd show frog jumping contests no Wide World of Sports.
