Wow, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pay 300 bucks for doing at least advertising for them. But thanks that you did it, so that we could see this awesome arcade. 👍💛
@JustAnotherGamer1005 Жыл бұрын
Why not actually? Why should KZbinrs get everything for free, under the context of, as if they are 'advertising' (sorry, English isn't my native language, so I'm probably messing up sentence right there). They are not really advertising, they are creating content to benefit themselves first and foremost. So if a KZbinr is making money by making a video of their venue, why couldn't that venue ask for a piece of their pie in it? They have to make the investments to keep the venue alive. And who says they need the advertising? If you're a KZbinr that is just starting out, I can understand the resentment to have to pay a higher fee for just filming. But estableshed KZbinrs earn enough money to handle it like a bussiness and thus should understand when something is an investment. A KZbinr shouldn't be free from that. And the "I'm doing a KZbin video, I shouldn't pay" (or worse, "I'm a KZbinr, I want it for free or I'll give you bad publicity", which is basically blackmailing) has been abused so much by now, lot's of venues are beginning to wake up. I've even had outside locations I wasn't allowed to photograph, without permission or press-card. Which you had to make an appointment for and pay. Even if you wanted to take pictures there for a weddingshoot, you still had to pay for it. It's a bit of a toxic social media/KZbinr mindset, to think their content is automatically a great value to a venue, because they are filming/taking photographs somewhere. If it was up to me, 'influencers' wouldn't be allowed to receive any 'gifts' or income generated from their 'influencing'. To think that is even considered a 'job' these days. Mind you, for me there is a difference between 'influencers' and KZbinrs with actual content.

When I first saw the comment about the $300 price, I have to admit that I was a bit taken aback. But then I took a closer look at the arcade and realized the incredible quality and effort that went into creating it. It made me understand why they charge that amount. I believe their intention is to discourage people from just walking in, taking videos without playing or paying, and leaving. They want to ensure that the space is used by individuals or groups who genuinely appreciate and value what the arcade has to offer. When I thought about it further, I also realized that compared to renting a separate space for filming, $300 is actually a pretty good deal. You get a fully powered space where you can film and create content without any additional hassle. So, from my own personal perspective, I don't think it's as bad of a deal as it may seem at first.

There will come a time when LCD mods are a necessity to keep arcade games alive but we're not there yet. There's still enough CRTs in the wild for Arcades like Family Arcade to restore these machines the right way. I'd honestly prefer playing an emulated version of a game like the Simpsons on a CRT than playing the original PCB on an LCD.
@RetroRalph2 жыл бұрын
I would too, and I agree that most of this is done out of laziness and cost savings. If they don't have the knowledge in-house they may have to pay a lot for monitor recaps and such. So, they take the easy route, it's a bummer, but it's happening more and more. I don't agree with it but with mostly enthusiasts fixing this stuff, these places end up taking the easy approach.

Family Arcade was my joint when I had classes at LA City College across the street. Sometimes I'd stop by for a game of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (man, that game was crack) before I took off for more courses at LA Trade-Tech. Next time you're in Los Angeles, please visit this underground arcade in Huntington Park, on Pacific & Saturn (one block north of Florence Avenue). Admission to get in is $3 before 6pm and $2 after 6pm, but all the games are free. Just look for the mural of Chun-Li parallel to the stairway and you're there 😊

You took one for the team Ralph! Last time I was in LA, I dropped in at VAS. (Vintage arcade superstore) They were super cool and gave me the grand tour. Gene has about every part stashed because he has never thrown anything away. Arcade people around the world share an unique bond. These games were built to bring people together. They did so magically when we were kids. They still do, decades later. Great to see games in the wild like that. Personally, I despise LCD's but have softened up a little. Sometimes, it is the only way to keep a machine operational. That being said, I have fifteen vintage arcade machines. Zero LCDs.

There was an official release for Street fighter V I think it was a Japan release only.

You got ripped off! You should have used bluetooth camera glasses instead! Aces Adventures, and Sal (2 really popular dead mall channels) have improvised on how to get past mall security, and you could have paid the $25.00 entry fee, and left the owner in the dark about you filming the place! I am not sure about who used the bluetooth camera glasses, but they have also figured out how to carry their phone to film video without being noticed! They have a Discord server called The Dead Malls of Discord Prime Server (abbreviated as DMOD), and are a community, so they always talk to each other!

Thanks for paying $300 so we could get a look at that LA arcade. Where were the gamers?

Wow, been awhile since I have seen a puzzle fighter 2 on location. I've seen jail bars on CPS2 caused by bad A-B seating. I have this game in a 3-koam z-back.
