I'm a big fan of your videos and I've come to really love the 1v3s. I'm curious, what's your secret? It feels like playing a 1v3 would be a huge disadvantage but you always make it look so easy!

If you'll humor my input, I imagine it's a several fold advantage. One advantage is that his supply cap effectively skyrockets, allowing him to create a critical mass of army that is incredibly hard to get rid of. Next, the tech tree is blown wide open. He has access to anything that can cover the inherent disadvantages of a race. For example, having a paladin ir priests greatly boosts the survivability of orc units, which- while tanky- do not have particularly good regen. Alternatively, tanky orc units can make a great meatshield for night elf's fragile ranged troops. There is also the fact that he is no longer dependent on allies working alongside him. He can control several armies with one plan instead of heing split up between other unpredictable players. This is helped that he just has the micro skills to manage all of this. And on an unrelated note, I dig the homm2 pfp

@vamp1310 Agreeable mostly on advantages. But what people might find extremly hard later on if they try to control several races in same time is: Even before you manage to achive big army capable of dominating on the field because of sheer numbers. You still need to manage supply lines, logistics for reinforcements etc. This is crazy in 1v3 but he published also 1v4 games as well which is even crazier. I have to say I truly admire way of his play style and discipline to always check multiple bases just to micromanage workers. When I play myself I often times find myself deep engage in fighting and battle, managing your own troops is one thing. Good separation of control groups is necessary but later on I would find myself with half of my troops and much extra gold because I forgot to spend, now scale my problem to 3 4 teams you have to manage extra. But on side note I am just casual who enjoys watching and playing games for fun, Happy on the other hand is World Champion.

@@filipvrljic7815 yeah, his skill is definitely the main factor that allows him to pull these off. Only a truly great player can capitalize on all these advantages like he does.

i was always terrible at this game, but if you go back to the start of his channel, those initial 1v3 games are as close as you get to a tutorial or a starting point. if i had to relearn the game and how to play 1v3, that's how i would start. basically, you get a ranged army and heroes that can stun. perma stun enemy heroes, int and agility heroes especially, snipe them. rinse and repeat. for example, "best" combo is 2 orc 1 hu or 2 hu one orc, get mk/tc with mass rifle and hh. keep things simple. i always tried to get more heroes for a higher score, but unless you're good at multitasking, they just end up dying (you can see even he loses track of his other heroes in game 2). the main advantage that is articulated upstream is that after it turns into a 1v3 situation, someone on the 3 player team does something stupid (techs, tries a gimmick strat), and they won't be able to deal with a 150 food push. the main problem with teching is that it just nabs you light air, which does nothing against the mass ranged army. he always also actually straight up tells his remaining allies after a drop (get to 3, bum rush, but they never listen). there are actually a few examples of this in this series (tc/mk combo, ranged army), which he hasn't done in awhile. also, the game is really old. like in his 1v3 videos at the start of the channel, those games are almost 10 years old... and he was probably playing for 10 years before that (i.e., he has lots of experience). the other thing which must be said, and would give hope to anyone learning to play the game is... actually apm doesn't seem to matter that much. if you watch closely, it seems clear he does a LOT of stuff manually (i.e., he's not using hotkeys all the time!!!!). a lot of times, he wins because he makes the right decision, which matters more than the speed. this is the hard part for a lot of players (won't recognize when to sacrifice your base).

Why do multiple people leave just minutes into a game before even the first encounter or bigger fight?

so of them are just bots. huge problem on bnet. then there are straight up trolls.

It's the load times. If you're not committed to the wait, you might just drop out, or your game crashes. Other than that, some simply do not want to play. Ladder is not rewarding enough to put any effort into it, so players look for any excuse to leave the match.
