300 Oil ➡ 10 GIGAWATTS of Power! These Alternate Recipes Rule in Satisfactory - Playthrough & Guide

This video is a 2 for 1! - a let's play for my current Satisfactory playthrough and a fuel power tutorial. After watching this video, you should be ready to power any Satisfactory build you can come up with.
To use this Satisfactory design, you need two key alternate recipes - diluted fuel and Heavy Oil Residue (HOR) - and access to blenders. You can also do this with diluted packaged fuel, but ain't nobody got time to build all of those packagers - just wait for blenders.
This design takes 10 refineries, 8 blenders, and 68 fuel generators and takes place in the blue hole/crater on the southeastern part of the map, not super far away from the Grassy Fields starting area.
Update 6 is almost here, so we will wait to decorate this factory until next week. Until then, I hope you can find a couple of Satisfactory tips that are helpful to you.

Thanks Nick. I am not an expert on fluids, but I have successfully treated the symptoms in most cases. Most of the time a simpler solution works better - pipe bend here, a fluid buffer there. Consider subscribing if you haven’t yet.

Did the same with 1 pure node cranked up to 600. Then turn all the dilluted fuel into turbo fuel. Runs 296 fuel generators. 44k mw Input 600 oil...1068 coal and sulfer/min...1600 water

Set for life! I have yet to do turbo fuel in any of my play throughs. Plain ole diluted fuel is enough for my plans so far and this plant was just a hold over to nuclear for me. I haven’t done that either and I am looking forward to it

I have 600 oil going to 20 refineries making 190 plastic and rubber. Then the heavy oil get made into turbo fuel with an alternate recipe, then in to 36 generators. Do know if it’s the best set up but it works, also just a simple set up that gives me close to 10,000mw

Sounds like a good setup to me. I never thought that turbo fuel was quite worth the extra effort over diluted fuel but you definitely end up with a lot of power

You get more power per oil with turbo fuel compared to diluted fuel but the production line is more complicated and you need additional resources. I normally go diluted fuel to hold me over until I get nuclear

Nice way to get a fast boost without the diluted package mess. I will say, I only used 66 fuel gens and I rarely see this system make over 8100 MW. With 66 my max is 9900MW, but I never get that much. I am certain it is a sloshing issue, I did 2 levels (33 gens per level) with a fluid buffer in the loop. I am at a loss with fluids, it is certainly frustrating to spend hours and have something not work as it should.

Fluids are definitely hit or miss. It will fluctuate every once in a while but mine is solidly close to 10GW. Perhaps make an extra up and down connection between the levels and see if that helps

I just built a power plant using the same recipes! But I massively over compensated and its producing 40 GW with the capability of going up to 60 GW haha. Nice video!

I was very tempted to just bash out 8 floors myself because there is enough oil there to do it and more. But I want to do nuclear (which I have never done) and I won’t be as motivated if I don’t actually need all the power.

So i like building more your style and i built in the past a 83 GW factory only using fuel and now i have done nuclear with 540GW, so i wont definetly need more power for the rest of the game

Its more efficient if you use 900 crude, turn to 1200 heavy and run four sets of refineries, 300 heavy/min each. I get 64 gw.

I'm currently working on a 2k Turbofuel System which should net me 66GW from 2x 450 Oil, With Alt. Heavy Oil Residue and Alt.Diluted Fuel + Compacted Coal. The 1600 Sulfur alone need 6 Drone Stations (2 at each node and 2 at the factory)

I wish I would have! I mostly record my voice tracks while I play, so I definitely make more mistakes while concentrating on how to talk well

@@DrLootCrate To be honest, while I am playing I do the mistake all the time still. Mind racing to 15 steps ahead and back and such details will go past even bit too easy. Anyway, a nice build. Will be interesting to see how you dress it up later down the line.

You know how you say “I will come back and finish that later” in this game and then never go back and do it later? The only reason that won’t happen here is because I can see it from my new factory

There's a bunch of coal there, so you can take this even farther with Turbo Fuel. Sulfur is a bit far I guess, but it's worth it IMO.

Definitely could, but I don’t think it is worth it. I am planning on doing nuclear, so this is tiding me over until that. There is so much oil on the map that I don’t feel a responsibility to eke out max MW from each drop. But it will definitely get more power out of your oil that way.

@@DrLootCrate Yeah, that's reasonable. I just think Turbo Fuel is cooler. I mean. It has Turbo in the name. Also nuclear is a huge huge pain and I want to do it as late as possible, so I build the biggest Fuel Power plant I can.

Coffee Stain just announced they are pulling the new buildables from the early access release, so next weeks video will NOT be decorating this factory. I think we are going to be moving on to Electromagnetic Control Rods instead

Thanks! They are crafted, but only from slugs. There really are a lot of slugs out there if you keep exploring the map. You can always look at online maps too if you are desperate

For a multi-tiered fluid system, wouldn’t you want to pump up, then split down? Otherwise, wouldn’t the fluid system on the floor take priority of the system above?

I think you're right, specially using one of those big tanks as buffer, you can let it build up as you build the entire plant which will probably take you hours. Then let it drop into every machine. I think the buffer prevents backflow, as well.

This is good enough for me and I will probably use the sulfur elsewhere. I am tiding myself over until nuclear. I am just waiting for them to change the alternate nuclear recipes…they are getting rid of beacons sometime soon

I'm making 117 000 MW from just 45 oil. You can get 1,95 TW out of 600 oil if you build 40 refineries making 150 fuel each and 400 refineries making 150 turbo fuel each and building 5 200 fuel generators at full power (375 MW) = 1 950 000 MW. Of course I'm not using 100 % of the 45 oil. I could get 120 000 MW, but who cares. 52 x 6 fuel generators instead of 53.33333...... x 6.

Does the math really work out like that? I have actually never laid out a turbo fuel build. Diluted was enough for me as I was planning a nuclear plant (which I am currently working on for another video)

@@DrLootCrate There's an even better recipe now, upgraded refineries as well. I'm using mods, not the original. I have to rebuild a bit. I don't need 5200 fuel generators any more, just 600.
